Honoring the Sublime Paralytic: Happy Birth Anniversary, Apolinario Mabini!
Today, July 23, we commemorate the birth anniversary of one of the greatest minds of the Philippine Revolution, Apolinario Mabini, known famously as "Ang Utak ng Himagsikan" (The Brains of the Revolution).
Despite losing the use of both legs to polio in 1896, Mabini’s intellect and dedication to Philippine independence remained unmatched. Here are a few quick facts about his incredible legacy:
First Prime Minister: He served as the very first Prime Minister of the Philippines and the Minister of Foreign Affairs under Emilio Aguinaldo’s revolutionary government.
Architect of the Republic: Mabini drafted key constitutional documents, including the Programa Constitucional de la República Filipina and the El Verdadero Decálogo (The True Decalogue), which laid down the moral and political principles for the new nation.
The Power of Intellect: His brilliant political essays and legal mind earned him another notable moniker: "The Sublime Paralytic."
Let us honor his intellect, resilience, and unwavering love for the country!
