Pasay City โ The Arellano University โ Jose Abad Santos Political Science Department, The Parliamentarians, conducted the Interdepartmental Debate: The Great Dialogue on November 7, 2025, at the Annex Building, Room 225.
The program began at 9:00 a.m. with Ms. Ashley Anne Sta. Ana, Organizational Officer and Master of Ceremonies, leading the opening prayer, National Anthem, and AU Hymn.
Mr. Arvic Luis Panay Jalos, Minority Leader, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the significance of debate, followed by a message from Dr. Enerio L. Sagusay, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
The board of judges included Mr. Bennette Estrada, Ms. Sandara E. Mina, and the Adviser of the Supreme Student Council, Ms. Deborah A. Acab.
The first round focused on the motion โIs corruption avoidable in any system?โ with the College of Arts and Sciences representatives, Mr. Joannes Paulo and Ms. Princess Venus Patiรฑo, taking the pro side against the Commission on Electionsโ debaters, Mr. Ivan Rejolio, Ms. Daniel Jade Eungenio, and Ms. Justin Adrien Mora, on the con side.
The second round discussed the motion โIn favor or against: Charter Change,โ where Educ-Parliamentarians, represented by Mr. Ranze Layco Lanuza and Mr. Oyeh Montajes, took the affirmative side, while the College of Arts and Sciences opposed.
In the final round, the Educ-Parliamentarians (Affirmative) faced COMELEC (Negative) on the topic โDoes Artificial Intelligence steal jobs?โ
At 2:00 p.m., the awarding ceremony took place. The Educ-Parliamentarians placed second, the College of Arts and Sciences ranked first, and COMELEC claimed the championship, earning the right to represent the campus in the upcoming interbranch competition.
The event concluded at 2:20 p.m. with closing remarks from Ms. Iyana Melise B. Montarde, Parliamentarian President, followed by a photo opportunity.
