On this 54th anniversary, we remember this day, September 21, 1972—a turning point in Philippine history when President Ferdinand E. Marcos placed the country under Martial Law.

Beyond the dates and names in our history books are the stories of Filipinos who experienced censorship, arrests, fear, and the suppression of civil liberties during this period.

May we continue to remember, learn from history, and value the freedoms that shape our democracy today.
