💔 : Our Home May Be Down, But Our Spirit Isn't 🇵ðŸ‡
This is a tough update to write. This video was taken yesterday, November 9th, at 6:00 PM, barely an hour after Super Typhoon Uwan finally pulled away from our region. Our founders visited the WAP Community Learning Hub to survey the damage, and honestly, it was heartbreaking.
For three years, we have weathered countless typhoons, but we didn't survive this one. Seeing our office flooded, the books scattered, and the learning space violated felt like a punch to the gut.
All the treasured memories, the late nights, and the incredible effort our volunteers poured into building this organization's home... it was all washed out by the floodwaters.
It's devastating to see our physical hub—the heart of our operations—in this state.
Now, We Rebuild. Together.
But here is the truth: Wiki Advocates Philippines is not a building. It's us. It's the community, the volunteers, the sponsors, and the shared mission that lives within every one of us.
We are bruised, but we are not broken.
We will stand strong together to stand back up. We need to rebuild our homes, rebuild ourselves, and then we will absolutely rebuild our community hub.
To every one of our amazing volunteers, sponsors, and supporters: Thank you for everything you've given us. We hope you will continue to stand with us now more than ever. Your strength is what will get us through this. Let's show Typhoon Uwan what true Bicolano resilience looks like.
Stay safe, check on your neighbors, and know that we are thinking of you all.
