God Speaks: October 4, 2026
27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Through today’s mass, Father reminded me that our life is God’s vineyard. Sometimes in life, we only want things to happen through our own ways because it is what we want. However, it will affect how we treat God. When God tells us to forgive, we sometimes respond with “Lord, I am not yet ready to forgive.”. When God tells us to let go, we would sometimes respond with “Just one last chance, God”. And the moment that God tells us to trust in him, sometimes we would respond with “Yes, but…”. We start to postpone and delay God’s message. Everyone has their own situations in life, but we should all circle back to the reminder that God will guide us in each step.
God cannot directly tell us what he wants to tell us, but he will use his messengers. Just like how the landowner of the vineyard sent his servants to collect his fruits. God will continuously send his messengers to us for guidance. This is a reminder to keep our hearts open. God can send anyone to us– even the people we least expect. It can be those we disagree with, or even our enemies. We sometimes can be too focused on who delivers the message to the point we fail to recognize the message itself.
As a person, I realized that I do sometimes ignore God’s message to follow what I want. There are times I have an Idea of what God is asking me to do, but I would choose my own thoughts and feelings because it makes things easier for me to accept. By the time I am struggling, that’s the time I beg God for help and ask “Why me, God?”. The problem here is not because God isn’t helping me, but because I ignore and delay God.
Because of this, I want to learn to be more open to God’s guidance. I now choose to listen to God’s message even if I know to myself that it is difficult. Every person in my life helped me learn, and I am now sure that God will use each person in this world as his instrument to guide all of us.
Prayer:
Father God,
We thank you for being so kind and caring to us. Thank you for always being loving and forgiving. Through today’s gospel, we were reminded that our lives are yours. Our lives are your vineyard, and we will take care of it. We are sorry for the times we reject your messages and choose to follow our path instead of yours. Lord, please guide us to open and humble our hearts so we can recognize your guidance. Lord God, we trust in you.
