“For the most convincing theology is not simply the theology we teach. It is the theology we live.”

With these powerful words, Most Rev. Bishop Sam Agcaracar, D.D. challenged the Don Bosco School of Theology community as we opened a new academic year on August 14, 2026.

The Inaugural Mass brought together our staff, professors, formators, and students in prayer, fellowship, and a renewed commitment to theological formation and mission.

Bishop Agcaracar reminded us that we receive the Holy Spirit not simply to know more, but to be transformed and sent.
As a Laudato Si’ School of Theology, DBST is also called to recognize care for our common home as part of the Church’s mission. Our theological formation must bear concrete fruit - transforming minds and hearts and leading us to action.

Inspired by the spirit of Saint John Bosco, the legacy of Saint Arnold Janssen, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, may this new academic year deepen our passion for truth, our love for the young, and our commitment to creation.

May DBST continue to be a place where truth leads to wisdom, contemplation leads to mission, and theology leads to transformation.

Our faith may feel limited and imperfect, but in the eyes of the Lord, even the smallest faith offered with love is precious.

So today, we can pray: “Lord, I may not have much faith, but I give You what I have. Help me trust You a little more today.”

May we never be discouraged by the smallness of our faith. What we place in God’s hands, He can transform.

Why does the Church believe that Mary was assumed body and soul into heaven? What does this beautiful dogma reveal about who God is and what He desires for us?

On this Feast of the Assumption, let us rediscover the hope that God’s promise of redemption is not only for the soul, but for the whole person. May Mary, assumed into heaven, remind us that our ultimate destination is communion with God.
