The 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗱 City Leadership Team (CLT) successfully wrapped up the workshop on Family Planning Investments for incorporation into their 2027 Annual Investment Plan.

The workshop, held on September 3, focused on the local budget process, with participants reviewing data on FP performance at the local and regional levels to guide planning decisions. The activity supports both compliance requirements and the broader goal of strengthening team capacity to deliver quality FP services.

On September 3, the City Health Office of 𝗜𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 held its Family Planning Celebration, in partnership with DOH-CHD Northern Mindanao and The Challenge Initiative.

The event brought together families and communities to raise awareness on Family Planning, Adolescent Reproductive Health, and HIV, promoting informed, responsible choices for a healthier future.

Across the Philippines, cities are finding different pathways toward the same goal: healthier families and stronger health systems. Through The Challenge Initiative - The Philippines (TCI), local governments have expanded family planning access, strengthened leadership, and institutionalized programs for long-term sustainability. Now, these cities are re-engaged under TCI 20.30.

As part of TCI 20.30, the program will also pilot maternal, newborn, and child health initiatives through the Local Investment for Family Transformation (LIFT) program in Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, and Iligan, expanding its proven approach beyond family planning to the broader continuum of care.

Pasig City treats family planning as a rights issue, building a referral network that ensures every adolescent mother has access to proper care. Social hygiene clinics offer confidential, adolescent-friendly services, and the city’s Information and Service Delivery Network (ISDN) organizes around priority concerns including mental health and reproductive health.

Pasig is now re-engaged under The Challenge Initiative - The Philippines (TCI) 20.30, continuing its rights-based family planning approach.

Quezon City addressed fragmented family planning services through Ordinance No. SP-3128, which established the Information and Service Delivery Network called the Quezon City Unified Services and Information (QUSI) Teen Network. The city trained frontline providers on adolescent health frameworks and streamlined referral pathways across departments.

Quezon City is now re-engaged under The Challenge Initiative - The Philippines (TCI) 20.30.

Tacurong City institutionalized family planning through local ordinances and dedicated funding, embedding adolescent health programs into regular city operations. The city expanded adolescent-friendly facilities and trained healthcare workers to provide youth-centered care.

Tacurong is now re-engaged under The Challenge Initiative - The Philippines (TCI) 20.30 to sustain its family planning programs.
