Imagine months of labor under the sun, debts piling up, fuel and fertilizer costs rising, sleepless nights protecting crops from pests and storms — only for the harvest to be valued lower than bottled water or a cup of coffee.

Sometimes, leaving the crops behind is the last dignity they can protect in a system that keeps demanding cheap food while refusing to value the hands that grow it.

Before judging the farmer, question the system that made their hard work feel worthless.

𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘 𝐇𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐃𝐀𝐘, 𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐏! 🦅✨

On February 15, 1999, Pangarap made history.

He was the first eaglet from Dagitab (male) and Elisa (female)—and the first Philippine Eagle successfully bred and hatched through natural pairing under the Philippine Eagle Foundation’s captive breeding program.

His name, meaning “dream,” was given by Gracielle Anne Pascual, a student from Nueva Ecija, through a nationwide Name-the-Eaglet Contest—a fitting tribute to a milestone that renewed hope for the species.

Pangarap’s hatching proved that natural pairing in captivity is possible, strengthening conservation efforts while we continue protecting forest habitats in the wild.

Now in the later stage of his breeding cycle, Pangarap serves as one of our Education Ambassadors—helping inspire visitors to care for the Philippine Eagle and the forests they call home.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Aboitiz Power Corporation for supporting Pangarap’s needs and welfare as his proud adopter.

Today, we remember Gina Lopez.

A staunch Filipino Philanthropist and environmental advocate. She was known to for her rehabilitation initiatives for Pasig River and the La Mesa Watershed.

In June 2016, Lopez was the first appointed secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources under the Duterte administration. In her less-than-a-year term, Lopez managed to audit all mining corporations operating in the country, cancel the approval of mining proposals in watershed regions, close down 26 mines due to environmental violations and suspend five mining contracts. In May 2017, the Commission on Appointments, spearheaded by the legislation, rejected Lopez’s appointment for her alleged incompetence. As Lopez remarked, “It is unfortunate that business interests have run the day - because that's really what it is.”

We remember her who once fought for the genuine interests of the government in preserving our precious Philippine environment.

May we learn from Gina Lopez’s courage and passion for saving nature and for protecting the country’s natural resources.
