Gregorio Del Pilar (b. 14 November 1875) was a young revolutionary and military leader from Bulakan, Bulacan. Recognized for heroism displayed during early campaigns, he was eventually promoted to the rank of Brigadier General by President Emilio Aguinaldo and would lead the rear guard that accompanied the Republic as it sought to escape from the pursuing American forces.
On December 2, 1899; the young Del Pilar and sixty men, volunteers from Bulacan and Ilocos, mounted a spirited defense at the strategic mountain trail of Tirad Pass which served as the gateway into the Cordilleras. Facing overwhelming odds, Gregorio Del Pilar and fifty-two of his men would make the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the motherland.
