We are thrilled to share the highlights of the 3rd Philincon Conservation Camp for Kids! Held last May 19–20 at Sitio Inigman, Patria, Pandan, Antique, this overnight camp brought together a mix of kids from the local community and from Pandan and neighboring towns for an unforgettable camp experience.

From sea turtle conservation and leaf identification to trash auditing, marine protected areas and leadership activities, our campers dived deep into what it takes to protect our natural resources. Seeing returning campers and meeting new faces makes this journey even more special.

The Philippine Initiative for Conservation of Environment and the People's mission is simple: to introduce conservation at a young age, raise awareness about environmental issues, and unlock the leadership potential and values needed to protect our conservation sites such as the Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park (NPPNP).

Thank you to everyone who made this camp a success. We are already looking forward to next year’s adventure!

HAPPY WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY!

Conversations on Conservation: Reflections on the Philippine Initiative for Conservation of Environment and the People's 3rd Leadership Camp

As we commemorate Philincon’s 30th-anniversary, we recently concluded our 3-day Conservation Camp for Adults at Sitio Tabay, Patria, Pandan, Antique. Set against the forest edge backdrop of the Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park (NPPNP) and this year’s gathering brought together students, young leaders, and seasoned professionals from across Panay (Antique, Aklan, Capiz, and Iloilo).

Our program bridged the gap between creative practice and technical field-work. Highlights included:

Cyanotype printing and birdwatching activity.

Sustainable camp-fire making and practices the Leave No Trace (LNT) principles.

Group discussions on Citizen Science and climate change mitigation strategies.

Beyond the activities, the camp served as a crucial forum for a collaboration among provinces in Panay island allowing us to share strategies for field management, navigate the complexities of conservation advocacy, and find resilience in the face of environmental challenges.

Seeing both familiar and new faces from May 22–24 was a testament to the growing strength of our community. This is only the beginning; we are already planning to expand our capacity for next year. Let’s keep the momentum going!
