Food for the Hungry Philippines

Food for the Hungry Philippines In the Philippines, we operate as Food for the Hungry, Inc. Branch Office. Hunger and poverty come in many forms. Connect with us today!

Food for the Hungry is a Christian INGO that designs, develops, and delivers catalytic solutions that build resilience so that children, families, and communities can flourish. We seek to share food for the body, mind and soul. Food for the Hungry's programs in the Philippines involve working with communities with high poverty and vulnerability to include remote rural areas, coastal communities,

and urban slums. Majority of these families, or the People We Serve, rely on farming and/or fishing as their primary livelihood. Through life-saving, life-improving, and life-sustaining projects and programs, we support communities so they can build agency and gather resources necessary to be resilient and flourish. Are you interested to learn more on how we can work together for Filipino children and communities?

Did you know that April is Filipino Food Month?๐Ÿค”
Held annually since 2018, this celebration not only aims to promote and preserve Filipino culinary traditions but to also support local farmers and agricultural communities.

Here's a take from sponsored child Blessed Joy!

Word of the Day: PAGDAYAW
It is a Hiligaynon and Ninorte-Samarnon word that means to "honor" or "appreciate."

Likewise, we are also honored to have supportive partners from the academe who work with us to promote continuous learning in our Leyte and Samar Area Program.

Congratulations on the recently concluded PAGDAYAW 2026, Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences - Visayas State University Tolosa! Truly, "Stronger Together: Strengthening Collaboration for Sustainable Fisheries and Ecosystem Conservation!"

It's always a pleasure listening to your stories, concerns, and ideas on how we can make communities better places for children and families.

Here are a few ๐Ÿ“ธsnapshots (and lots of smiles!) of Food for the Hungry's Regional Director for Asia Rommel Fuerte, Portfolio Manager Leilani Iranon, Philippines' Country Director Rowena Mendoza, Director of Program Quality and Development Maria Baylon, and Finance Manager Mildred Pancho during their visit!

โ€œChildren no longer feel learning to read as scary and boring.โ€ ๐Ÿ“š

Thatโ€™s the difference opportunity makes.

When schools shut down during COVID, kids like Senta fell behind and was struggling just to put words together. His mom, Anggi, wanted to helpโ€ฆ but didnโ€™t have the tools or time.

Through Food for the Hungryโ€™s Reading Groups, everything changed.

In just a few months, Senta began reading faster, learning with confidence, and even enjoying it. And his mother Anggi? Sheโ€™s no longer alone! Sheโ€™s equipped, encouraged, and connected with other moms walking the same journey.

This is how communities rise.

๐Ÿซถ Your support helps children not just catch upโ€ฆ but move forward with confidence and excitement!

๐ŸŒŠFloods are common in Malabonโ€” but that doesn't mean we will just play the "victim!"๐ŸŒง๏ธ

This is why we continuously work with families to help them adopt positive coping mechanisms through family preparedness, community readiness, and resilience-building activities. As a bonus, 560 children under Food for the Hungry also received emergency kits last March to instill in them that preparedness make a huge difference!

๐ŸŒฑHe is Risen! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ
Easter Sunday also marks the season of โ€œEastertideโ€ or the 50 days celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ until Pentecost. Pentecost is considered the "birthday of the Churchโ€ as it commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus in Jerusalem. (Acts 2:1โ€“3)

When the chief priests and the Pharisees remembered that Jesus said He will rise again after three days, they assumed that Jesus' disciples will steal the body from the tomb and tell everyone that Jesus rose from the dead.

To this, Pilate commanded that the tomb be secured by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard. (Matthew 27:62-66)
