On December 13, 2025, the advocacy project โDunong sa Liwanag: Empowering Indigenous Children Through Light and Learningโ was successfully implemented at Purok 2-A, Barangay Tubod, Carmen. The program commenced with an opening prayer, seeking guidance and blessings as the team carried out a mission rooted in service and compassion. This was followed by a fun energizer led by the DUYOG Team, which fostered a positive atmosphere with laughter, excitement, and bright smiles from the children including their parents.
The program formally proceeded with opening remarks from Ms. Aleya Zyra Obeda, the Project Instructor, followed by a heartfelt message from one of the Indigenous People (IP) representative. Her words resonated with everyone present which reminded the team why the advocacy truly mattered.
Throughout the program, the childrenโs enthusiasm and happiness were evident, as their laughter echoed throughout the place, and the happiness on their faces was something no words could fully measure. Parents also showed appreciation as they witnessed their children engaged in different activities. This was followed by the distribution of solar lights and school supplies, modest yet powerful tools that symbolized hope, support, and a brighter path for learning.
The program concluded with a heartfelt closing remarks by Mr. Aldrin Sugbo, President of DUYOG, and followed by a prayer and picture-taking with the DUYOG Team, the Indigenous children, and their parents. Everyone departed the community not just with photos and memories, but with hearts full of gratitude, fulfillment, and renewed purpose, affirming that even small acts of service can create a meaningful impact by bringing light, learning, and hope to the community.
