Numerous social challenges affect Lumad peoples. Similar to other Indigenous peoples (IPs) around the world, the IPs in the Philippines are the most disadvantaged people in the nation and have disproportionately low access to healthcare, education, and human rights. There are suggestions that social problems among the Lumad is a result of ethnic grudges that turn into a problem of economic greed.
They suffer threats to their traditional culture and identity, the loss of their ancestral lands owing to land grabs or militarism, and economic and social isolation. Lumad groups deal with forced school closures, extrajudicial killings, intimidation of Lumad rights advocates, and other problems.
We are the founders of The Lumad Movement, and we are here to educate you on the Lumads as well as gain support from all of you. We hope that by watching this video of us, you can see our determination and motivation to become the voice for the Lumads and advocate for social change. We encourage you to become part of this movement and make the Lumads go back to their ancestral lands and pass on their culture for the next generation to see.
