The 4H Club of Padre Burgos, in partnership with the Yakap at Halik NGO and the Pamunuan at mga Kasapi ng hanay ng Kababaihan ng Samahan ng Tatlong Persona Solo Dios sa Lalawigan ng Quezon II, successfully conducted the seminar entitled βKababaihan sa Agrikultura: Sandigan ng Bukid, Haligi ng Kaunlaranβ on 20 March 2026 at the STPSD Event Plaza, Barangay Walay, in celebration of National Womenβs Month 2026.
The program formally commenced with an invocation led by Glecersia Oflaria, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, Lupang Hinirang. An opening remark was delivered by Armel Amparo, Board of Trustees Chairman of the Yakap at Halik NGO, emphasizing the significance of empowering women in agriculture. Inspirational messages were subsequently conveyed by Hon. Christian Dumanggas, Committee Chair on Agriculture, and Mamerto Peralta of the Yakap at Halik Multipurpose Cooperative Quezon II, highlighting the vital role of women in rural and agricultural development.
The program proper featured Carl Anthony I. Catapang, President of the 4H Club of Padre Burgos, as the resource speaker. His discussion covered the historical evolution of womenβs roles from the pre-colonial period to the modern era, emphasizing their crucial contributions to the Philippine agricultural sector. He further discussed existing laws and policies that protect and promote the welfare of women, and cited notable Filipina figures such as Maria Y. Orosa, Dr. Filomena F. Campos, and Yolanda T. Quijano for their significant contributions to agriculture and national development. The discussion also highlighted the raffia industry of Padre Burgos as a women-led entrepreneurship initiative that contributes to local economic growth.
An interactive activity followed, wherein participants conducted a SWOT Analysis on the current situation of women in Philippine agriculture. The results of this activity are intended to be re-echoed at the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist to further expand awareness and deepen understanding of womenβs roles and challenges in the sector.
The program concluded with a message of gratitude delivered by Sir Gabriel Arubio, President of FVLAP, and closing remarks from Esperanza Cena, Program Staff. The activity successfully underscored the importance of recognizing, empowering, and advancing the role of women as pillars of agriculture and drivers of sustainable development.
