For this coming NDPR WEEK, we gather to celebrate National Disability Rights Week, a meaningful event led by the National Council on Disability Affairs to remind all of us that every person, regardless of ability, deserves respect, dignity, and equal opportunities in life.
This year’s theme, “Rights First, Legislation Forward – Strategic Action for Equal Opportunities,” reminds us that people with disabilities are not asking for special treatment. They are asking for what every human being deserves: equal rights, inclusion, accessibility, and the chance to participate fully in society.
Persons with disabilities continue to inspire communities through their strength, talent, determination, and courage. Disability should never be a reason for discrimination or exclusion. Instead, it should challenge society to create spaces where everyone can learn, work, grow, and succeed together.
As members of our community, we all have a responsibility to promote kindness, understanding, and inclusion. Small actions—offering support, respecting differences, removing barriers, and speaking against discrimination—can help build a society where no one is left behind.
Let us remember that true progress is not measured by how we help only a few, but by how we ensure that everyone, including persons with disabilities, has equal access to opportunities and a better future.
As we celebrate this important week, let us continue working together to build a world where inclusion is not just an idea, but a reality for all.
Because at the end of the day, disability does not define a person — ability, courage, and humanity do.
Thank you, and happy National Disability Rights Week to everyone.
