The misuse of the Red Cross name and emblem is prohibited under RA 10072, strengthened by RA 10530, and internationally protected by the Geneva Conventions. Unauthorized use by individuals, businesses, or organizations is illegal and punishable by fines and imprisonment.
1. Misuse of the Red Cross Name or Emblem
The main law is Republic Act No. 10072.
This law protects the name “Red Cross,” “Philippine Red Cross,” and the Red Cross emblem.
- It prohibits unauthorized use of the Red Cross name, emblem, insignia, or resources by individuals, organizations, or businesses.
- Any misuse for commercial purposes, misleading representation, or unauthorized activities is punishable by law.
- It is also supported by Geneva Conventions, which protect the Red Cross emblem internationally.
2. Copyright of Documents
If a person copies or reproduces a Red Cross training manual, module, or document without permission, this falls under copyright law:

This law protects:
-Manuals
-Training modules
-Publications
-Educational materials
-Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or publication is considered copyright infringement.
3. Additional Protection Law
Another relevant law is:
Republic Act No. 10530
This strengthens the legal status and protection of the Philippine Red Cross, including its name, emblem, and operations.
A person pretending to represent the Philippine Red Cross can be charged with:
1. Unlawful solicitation / misrepresentation (RA 10072)
2. Illegal use of the Red Cross name, resources or emblem (RA 10072)
3. Estafa (fraud) if money is involved
4. Use of fictitious name or false representation under the Revised Penal Code.

Also, the said training is non-existent to our list of offered training at the moment. We encourage to report any engagements that uses Philippine Red Cross without official confirmation from our office.
