Project Description
The Rotary Club of Metro Olongapo actively participated in and supported the successful conduct of the Blessing of the Helmets and Road Safety Advocacy held on April 18, 2026, at the grounds of Sanctuario de San Roque.
This meaningful community event brought together motorcycle riders, families, and residents to promote road safety, responsible driving, and community solidarity. The activity was spearheaded by the church community in partnership with the Lectors, Commentators, Psalmists Guild (LCPG) and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC), with support from the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and cooperation from the Rotary Club of Metro Olongapo.
Activities Conducted
* Celebration of the Holy Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Noel Montes
* Blessing of motorcycle helmets and motorcycles
* Road Safety and Driving Refresher Seminar conducted by Ashley Tirona of the Land Transportation Office Olongapo-Zambales Licensing Office
* Trade Fair promoting safe riding practices and safety awareness
* Community fellowship among participants and supporters

Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention
The project promoted discipline, courtesy, and responsible behavior on the road—key values that help prevent accidents, road rage incidents, and conflicts among motorists and pedestrians. By fostering mutual respect and awareness, the event contributed to a safer and more harmonious community environment.
Disease Prevention and Treatment
By advocating helmet use and safe riding practices, the project supported injury prevention and reduced the risk of traumatic accidents that burden healthcare systems. Preventing road-related injuries aligns with Rotary’s commitment to protecting lives and promoting public health.

Results / Outcome
