Mental Health Matters — For Me, For You, For Us All
Mr. Jerico Joaquin, president of ResetLives Philippines, a passionate advocate for mental health, recently attended a transformative seminar titled;
“Managing Stress and Letting Go of People Pleasing"
Known for his commitment to emotional and psychological well-being, Mr. Joaquin emphasizes that mental health is just as vital as physical health. For him, raising awareness is not solely about addressing disorders—it’s about empowering individuals and communities to live with balance, purpose, and self-compassion.
The seminar left Mr. Joaquin feeling inspired, validated, and better equipped with practical tools to navigate life with greater intention and mindfulness.
Key Highlights from the Seminar:
1. Understanding and Managing Stress
Mr. Joaquin reflected on how stress is often worn as a badge of honor in today’s fast-paced world. This session offered a powerful reminder that stress should not be a way of life. He gained insights into:
• The different types of stress—acute, chronic, and emotional—and how they show up in the body and mind
• Practical tools such as breathing exercises, movement, grounding techniques, and mindful pauses
• The importance of prioritization—recognizing that not everything is urgent or worthy of one’s energy
• The role of sleep hygiene in promoting mental clarity and emotional stability
• The therapeutic value of journaling as a way to process emotions and track personal growth
2. Letting Go of People Pleasing
This segment of the seminar deeply resonated with Mr. Joaquin. He reflected on how people pleasing often stems from a survival instinct—an inner child’s attempt to secure love, safety, and approval.
• The session explored how to set healthy, guilt-free boundaries
• It invited participants to reflect on the inner child and how early coping mechanisms continue to shape adult behavior
• Strategies were shared to build self-awareness, recognize emotional triggers, and make decisions rooted in authenticity rather than fear
Mr. Joaquin believes that mental health is not a destination but a daily commitment—a conscious choice to check in with oneself, unlearn unhealthy patterns, and choose healing over avoidance. He expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to learn, reflect, and connect with others walking a similar path.
He encourages anyone with the chance to attend a mental health seminar to seize it—affirming that the benefits to the mind, heart, and future self are immeasurable.
