To honor her legacyπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

We are truly sorry to hear about the passing of our beloved IWRC Fintailan Leonora Rosa-Mokudef. she is a remarkable leader and a tireless advocate for Indigenous Peoples’ rights, especially for women in the Bangsamoro Region. Her dedication to justice and empowerment clearly left a deep impact on the IWRC family and the communities she served.

She stood as a champion of IP women’s rights, ensuring their voices were heard in spaces where they were often overlooked. As an advocate for IP rights, she embodied resilience and hope, inspiring others to continue the fight for equality and dignity. Her role in the Board of Directors and Advocacy and Campaign Committee of IWRC reflects her commitment to collective progress and solidarity.

Her passing is a profound loss, but her vision and courage will continue to guide those who follow in her footsteps.
The passage of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (Republic Act 11054) was indeed a historic milestone, and the inclusion of Indigenous Peoples’ (IP) rights in the framework of BARMM wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless advocacy of leaders, lobbyists, and community voices like yours.

Making sure IP voices are heard in policymaking. Elevating indigenous women’s rights in a region where they’ve historically been marginalized. Securing IP rights in the BOL, which guarantees protection, participation, and recognition. Building bridges between lawmakers and grassroots leaders to achieve lasting change.

Your role standing alongside IP leaders such as TJG and pushing for recognition in both Congress and Senateβ€”helped ensure that indigenous women and communities are not left behind in the transition to self-governance. That kind of work often happens quietly, without the spotlight, but its impact is profound. Thank you so much for your amazing work. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Year-End Assessment: Honoring Indigenous Women’s Strength

A Year of Impact, Resilience, and Learning:

This year has been a journey of service, stories, and strength. Our Year-End Assessment honors the voices, progress, and power of Indigenous women, guiding our path forward to support and empower more NMIP women /Non-Moro Indigenous Peoples (NMIP) communities.

Celebrating Growth and Collective Strength:

We reflect on the challenges faced and the resilience shown by Indigenous women.
The Indigenous Women Resource Center stood as one of the 10 CSO Women Accelerators for Women, Peace, and Security in 2024 and continued its commitments in 2025, a milestone that inspires us to continue despite limitations. Our eagerness to support communities and create inspiration is not only our missionβ€”it is our legacy.

Carrying Lessons Forward:

Looking back, we recognize the importance of: Amplifying Indigenous women’s voices in peace and security. Strengthening partnerships that sustain community empowerment. Building resilience to overcome systemic challenges. Celebrating progress while acknowledging the work still ahead.

Gratitude:

We extend heartfelt thanks to the organizations that accompanied and supported us in this collective quest: The Institute for Autonomy and Governance (IAG) , WEAct 1325, GZO Peace Institute , Global Network of Women Peacebuilders , Forum Civil Peace Service / forumZFD - Philippines Program , UNDP Philippines, UN Women Philippines, Initiatives for International Dialogue, (IID) , IOM and The Asia Foundation . Together, we have nurtured spaces of empowerment, solidarity, and hope for Indigenous women.

Looking Ahead:

As we step into the new year, we carry forward the lessons of resilience, the strength of community, and the inspiration of Indigenous women. Our commitment remains steadfast: to continue building inclusive, empowered, and peaceful futures for NMIP women communities.

Special thanks to Ms. Jacque Fernande for her continued support to IWRC. Thank you again. To Ms. Ayee Tin, Mr. Bilarte Bernabe, Janito Ravelo, Johnson Rodrigo, IPMR Romeo Olubalang, and Timuay Justice and Governance (TJG) for the venue, IWRC BOD members and community partners, your support to our Year-End Assessment has made it successful. God Bless You More.
