Police Brigadier General Hansel M. Marantan reaffirmed the Philippine National Policeโs commitment to professionalism, accountability, and due process following the filing of an administrative complaint before the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) involving a police officer in Batangas.
Marantan said that upon being informed of the incident, he immediately ordered a thorough and impartial investigation and ensured that the matter was referred to the proper authorities, including NAPOLCOM, which now has jurisdiction over the case.
He also confirmed that he personally reached out to the complainant to assure her that her concerns would be addressed with fairness, sensitivity, and in accordance with established procedures.
As part of standard administrative protocol, the officer concerned has been placed under appropriate status pending the outcome of the investigation. Marantan emphasized that this measure is necessary to preserve the integrity of the process and to ensure that all parties are treated justly.
NAPOLCOM, for its part, earlier assured that the complaint will undergo proper administrative proceedings and will be handled with urgency, impartiality, and full respect for due process, particularly in cases involving women in uniform.
Marantan underscored that all actions taken by the police are guided by existing laws and institutional protocols, stressing that any determination of liability will be based strictly on facts and evidence.
โAllegations involving abuse of authority or disrespect, particularly toward women, are taken seriously,โ he said. โAt the same time, we remain bound to uphold the rule of law and the rights of all parties through due process.โ
He called on the public to allow the investigative process to proceed without undue pressure, assuring that both the PNP and NAPOLCOM are committed to accountability, fairness, and the highest standards of integrity in the police service.
