The Math Enthusiasts Organization proudly celebrates an extraordinary achievement of our very own Mr. Harry Arnold C. Salele, a dedicated third-year student, for earning a spot among the Top 10 Qualifiers in the 𝗙𝗧𝗥𝗖 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 (𝗕𝗢𝗧𝗕) 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝟯, held on April 23 in Davao City!

Out of 183 participants from State Universities and Colleges across the country, he rose as one of the top contenders and the only representative from Region VIII to advance to the Top 25, a truly outstanding feat that highlights his excellence, determination, and passion for learning.

The Math Enthusiasts Organization proudly celebrates the remarkable achievement of our fellow Math enthusiast, Mr. Harry Arnold C. Salele, a BSED Mathematics 3 student, for securing the First Runner-Up title in the first-ever 𝗙𝗧𝗥𝗖 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 (𝗕𝗢𝗧𝗕) 2026 – 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿, held on April 11 in Tacloban City.

Competing against participants from various universities across the region, his performance showcased excellence, critical thinking, and mastery in both Professional and General Education, truly embodying the spirit of a Math enthusiast.

We also recognize another representative from BSEd Mathematics, Ms. Cristine D. Comendo, a proud 4th-year Math Enthusiast, who represented the Secondary Level. Alongside her was Ms. Mary Ann Joy U. Valiente from Special Needs Education, who represented the Elementary Level. Together, they demonstrated determination, teamwork, and academic excellence on the regional stage.

Special recognition is also given to their coach, Mr. Jefry Aransado, whose guidance and dedication played a vital role in preparing our representatives for this competition.

Following this achievement, Mr. Salele, together with his coach, will advance to represent Biliran Province State University – Naval Campus in the national-level FTRC Battle of the Brains Grand Quiz Bowl on April 23, 2026, to be held at the Grand CAP Auditorium in Davao City.

PHOTOS: Highlights the tutoring sessions conducted by the Math Enthusiasts during the two-day Home-Based Mathematics Tutoring Program held on March 30–31, 2026. This initiative was carried out in accordance with Memorandum Order No. 53, s. 2026 on the conduct of Student Extracurricular and Faculty Empowerment Days. Guided by the goal of extending academic support, members connected with their tutees within their respective communities. Each session was carefully facilitated following the prescribed guidelines and structure set by the organization. Through this initiative, the organization continues to promote meaningful and accessible learning beyond the classroom.

Each tutoring session lasted for at least two (2) hours, which provided sufficient time to discuss key mathematical concepts and address identified learning gaps. Pre-test and post-test assessments were administered to effectively monitor the progress and understanding of the tutees. Tutors employed simplified strategies and step-by-step approaches to make mathematical concepts more engaging and easier to grasp. Their dedication reflects both their passion for mathematics and their commitment to service.

Furthermore, the pre-recorded mathematics tutorial videos prepared by selected Math Enthusiasts officers are yet to be released and will soon be made available to reach a wider audience. These video aim to support students who will be taking the entrance examination this April, as well as those who wish to further explore and understand the complexities of mathematics. This initiative also serves as a valuable opportunity for members to develop their teaching skills and strengthen their sense of responsibility as future educators. More than an academic activity, it fosters confidence, collaboration, and a deeper appreciation for learning.

Indeed, the Math Enthusiasts continue to empower future learners through dedication and purposeful engagement!

Today, the Math Enthusiasts Organization proudly started its 2-day Home-Based Entrance Exam Tutoring Program on March 30–31, 2026, in line with University Memorandum Order No. 53, s. 2026 on the conduct of Students’ Extracurricular Days. Each session lasts at least 2 hours, allowing tutors to effectively guide learners through key mathematical topics, from basic arithmetic and algebra to geometry, abstract reasoning, and statistics.

Members served as peer tutors, providing personalized instruction to relatives, neighbors, and local community members, ensuring that learning is accessible and tailored to the needs of each tutee. The program also includes pre-test and post-test assessments to track progress, reinforce skills, and prepare students for the BiPSU entrance examination.

Guided by principles of safety and energy conservation, tutoring sessions were held at home, minimizing travel and electricity use, and promoting responsible, sustainable learning practices. To extend the reach of this initiative, selected Math Enthusiasts officers are also producing pre-recorded tutorial videos, allowing even more students to benefit from structured problem-solving guidance.

Through this program, Math Enthusiasts continue to empower, educate, and inspire, strengthening academic skills, fostering community engagement, and cultivating leadership and teaching abilities among members, all while bringing mathematics closer to learners in their own communities.

Organized by the People Who Understand and Love Science Enigma (PULSE), in partnership with the Gender and Development (GAD) Office and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Naval, the event provided a meaningful platform for students to develop essential emergency response skills.

Math Enthusiasts members actively engaged in a series of lectures and hands-on activities covering fire safety, earthquake preparedness, basic life support, and first-aid techniques, equipping them with knowledge that goes beyond the classroom.

With pride, the Math Enthusiasts Organization was recognized as the 𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐂𝐈𝐏𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐎𝐑𝐆𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐙𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍, reflecting our commitment to excellence, teamwork, and active participation throughout the event.

The School of Teacher Education (STED) once again proved its academic excellence after clinching the championship title in the provincial-wide Quiz Bee Challenge, “Hot Shots 2: The Quiz Battle,” held on March 19, 2026, at the BiPSU Hyflex Audio-Visual Center.

Representing STED were Christian Lloyd Pomar (BSED 2 – Science), Earl Ivan Jose L. Oliveron (BSED 2 – Social Studies), and Harry Arnold Salele (BSED 3 – Mathematics), who competed against nine other teams from the Biliran and Naval campuses of Biliran Province State University (BiPSU).

Guided by their coaches, Mr. Sergio A. Matugas, Jr. and Mr. Sherwin C. Sarzuelo, the team demonstrated strong mastery and composure throughout the competition, ultimately emerging as champions and successfully defending their title from last year’s quiz bee.

The School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS) secured second place, while the School of Engineering (SOE) finished in third place, rounding out the list of top-performing teams in the competition.

The annual event is organized by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) as part of the observance of Fire Prevention Month. This year’s theme, “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa,” highlights the shared responsibility of fire safety and prevention within the community.

Beyond academic competition, the quiz bee aims to raise awareness and promote knowledge on fire safety practices among students, reinforcing the importance of preparedness and vigilance.

With this back-to-back victory, STED continues to solidify its reputation as a leading academic unit in the university, showcasing not only intellectual excellence but also its commitment to community-relevant advocacy.
