Availability of blood is crucial for people who will undergo major surgeries, who had motor vehicle accidents, and also who have medical condition that requires blood transfusion like dengue, cancer, and severe anemia. Through the coordination with Narra Municipal Hospital, Local Government Unity- Narra, Palawan, Filipino-American Nurse Anesthesiology Society, and Rotary Club of Narra Central a two day Blood Donation Drive was conducted with a total of 178 blood bags were successfully collected.
As a Rotaractor, we make sure that each donor had a BADY (Be someone At your side During Your journey) while donating and assisted them after donation to rest ample time. We also spent time to know how they feel especially for those first time donors to alleviate their fears, and took photos using their own cellular phones to document their heroic act. Also, all donors received a simple token of a heart pin that represent how genuine their heart to volunteer donating their blood to save lives.
We will forever grateful to support this initiative to ensure the availability of safe blood every 3 months. We, the Rotaractors of Narra Central, advocates this activity and we are very proud and happy that Together, we save lives in our community.
