BARANGAY ENVIRONMENTAL ENFORCEMENT ACTIVATED

Through the cooperation of the residents of Barangay Calauag, Naga City, an incident involving the burning of waste in a vacant lot within the barangay was immediately reported and promptly responded to by the Barangay Environmental Enforcers. This quick action helped protect both public health and the environment within the community.

We would like to continuously remind everyone that OPEN BURNING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED!
Any individual caught or proven to be in violation of the ordinance against open burning will be fined Php500.00.

It is not true that burning dried leaves and waste helps eliminate mosquitoes. In reality, open burning only increases heat in the environment, worsens air quality, and poses serious health risks, especially to individuals suffering from asthma and other respiratory illnesses. During the recent incident, one of the responding environmental enforcers even experienced an asthma attack due to smoke exposure. Aside from health hazards, smoke from burning may also cause unpleasant odors and damage to nearby homes and properties.

BARANGAY ENVIRONMENTAL ENFORCEMENT ACTIVATED

Joint Inspection Team (JIT) with City ENRO PCD Inspectors & Barangay Pollution Control Inspectors of Brgy. San Francisco

The activity is part of the RONDA KAPALIBUTAN under DisipliNAGA Program. A Group composed of: Deputized Barangay Environmental Enforcers, Barangay Pollution Control Inspectors in 27 Barangays, and ENRO Personnel conducting joint operations and initiatives focused on environmental protection, conservation, and community involvement in maintaining a healthy environment.
The idea of actively engaging with and protecting the environment through regular rounds or patrols in respective barangays. These initiatives were led by deputized barangay personnel (Tanods, BHW, Lupon Members & Barangay People Council) of Barangay with ENRO Socio-Cultural Division Barangay Coordinators.

The goal is to promote environmental awareness, encourage sustainable practices, and address environmental problems proactively. These initiatives, operations, and activities include Inspection of the business, grease traps, and its wastewater discharges with Barangay/Mayor Business Permit/Clearance/Certificate

Priority Ordinances that are covered by the operation are as follows:
WATER QUALITY PROTECTION:
Ordinance No. 2001-056 – Waste Segregation Amendment
Ordinance No. 2000-006 – Prohibition of Toxic Liquid Disposal into Waterways
Ordinance No. 2014-076 – Wastewater Management Ordinance
