The GABAY Scholars' Organization conducted a second wave of the Tree Nurturing Activity yesterday, April 26, 2026, at Barangay Carolina, Naga City, led by its dedicated members and non-scholar volunteers. The initiative reflects their growing sense of social responsibility and commitment to environmental care.

By watering the previously planted trees, participants nurtured not only their growth but also their sense of fulfillment, shared purpose, and camaraderie. The activity also highlights that environmental care does not end with planting—it requires continuous nurturing, given the current extreme heat conditions.

This environmental outreach strengthens scholars' commitment to safeguarding the environment for future generations.✨💚

The GABAY Scholars' Organization initiated a Tree Nurturing Activity yesterday, April 19, at Pacol, Naga City, led by the UT Foundation scholars. The activity aims to develop the scholars' sense of social responsibility while teaching them what it means to be an individual with lasting actions that influence and shape the future of society and the community.

This initiative had scholars visit sites where past tree planting activities took place— and the once seedlings planted have now grown into small but live means to keep floodwater at check especially with Naga City's topography. The engagement aspires to further expand more scholars' understanding of actions that will ultimately leave an impact for the future years and generations to come. 🍃💚

𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

The GABAY Scholar's Organization participated in the two-day 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 -𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬' 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 with the theme 𝐍𝐎 𝐅𝐈𝐋𝐓𝐄𝐑: 𝐓𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐨, 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐏𝐮𝐬𝐨, organized by the Office of the Students Affairs (OSA), held from April 18-19, 2026, at the Arrupe Convention Hall. 🕯️

This peaceful moment paved the way for the student leaders to reflect and discern their journey as student leaders, build connections with fellow student leaders, reconnect with themselves, and know God more dearly. As they were guided into being reflective and discerning leaders, they were reminded to be rooted in their values and embody Ignatian spirituality in their leadership journey. ✨

As this event comes to an end, may we all be reminded that nurturing people starts by nurturing ourselves and that God has His own way of revealing what our purpose will be in the right time. ✨🕯️

LOOK: EDCOM 2 recognizes the literacy and numeracy program implemented by PEAC-REX Scholars under the Gabay Scholars Organization at Fundado Elementary School last February 26, 2026.

The project head and volunteers of the said tutorial sessions were pre-service teachers from Ateneo de Naga University primarily aiming to improve early childhood educational competencies.

It was later last year when data from EDCOM 2 was released, stating the decline of early childhood pupils in mathematics and comprehension compared to national standards.

With this, Gabay will continue to create meaningful projects and pursue future endeavors similar to this aimed to uplift the community with lasting positive impact.

The whole scholar community is grateful with such recognition!

Day 2 of this semester’s Dugong Atenista program is now scheduled on 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟏 (𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲). 𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞. Originally set for April 16, the activity was rescheduled in support of the university’s energy conservation efforts, as the original date coincided with a Thursday schedule. The venue remains the same at 𝐗𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥, while the activity will now run from 𝟖:𝟎𝟎 𝐚.𝐦. 𝐭𝐨 𝟒:𝟎𝟎 𝐩.𝐦. 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲. We encourage donors to come early to ensure accommodation.

This Mass will be presided over by none other than Archbishop Rex Andrew C. Alarcon, the esteemed Archbishop of Caceres and the Chairman of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines Episcopal Commission on Social Communication. 𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | ADNU PEAC-Rex Scholars Mobilized Tutorial Sessions, EDCOM 2 Report Response

Data from the recent EDCOM 2 report highlights a serious challenge in our schools: nearly half of Filipino Grade 3 students are struggling to meet basic reading and math levels. To help turn these numbers around, the PEAC-Rex Scholars organized a special outreach program called “𝗠𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗴: 𝗠𝗴𝗮 𝗞𝘂𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝘁 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗮” at Fundado Elementary School on February 27, 2026.

As future teachers and scholarship beneficiaries, the scholars spent the day providing hands-on tutorials in basic English and Math for 51 pupils from Grades 1 to 3. This initiative directly supports 𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟰, 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, by focusing on the foundational skills children need to learn to thrive as they pursue higher education. Understanding that education and health go hand in hand, the team also distributed school supplies and healthy merienda to ensure the students were well-equipped and energized for their lessons.

Fiona Pedragosa, ADNU PEAC-Rex President, shared that the 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀. The day concluded with a ceremony honoring School Principal Mrs. Mary Ann Balbas Esplana and the faculty of Fundado Elementary for their vital partnership in this initiative.

By investing in these early years, the scholars are not just teaching lessons, but they are also helping build a stronger foundation for the next generation of learners.
