πŸ“šπŸ‘ BASA BAHAY: Every BASA Needs a BAHAY πŸ‘πŸ“š

A child's journey to success begins with the ability to read, understand, and learn.

As the Philippines continues to face challenges in literacy, with many learners struggling to meet expected reading levels, JCI Pili Isarog believes that improving literacy is a shared responsibility. Reading development should not be confined within the four walls of a classroomβ€”it must be nurtured by the entire community.

This belief gave birth to BASA BAHAY, a literacy initiative that promotes a whole-community approach to reading. The project recognizes that every learner has different "BAHAY" or homes of learning:

🏫 The School – where teachers guide and develop foundational literacy skills;

🏠 The Home – where parents and families become reading partners and role models;

🌍 The Community – where stakeholders, volunteers, and community members create environments that encourage lifelong learning.

Through BASA BAHAY, we aim to strengthen the culture of reading by bringing literacy beyond the classroom and into the everyday lives of our learners. By engaging teachers, parents, community leaders, and partners, we create a support system that empowers children to read more, learn more, and dream bigger.

Because literacy is not just an educational issueβ€”it is a community issue. When a child learns to read, opportunities open. Confidence grows. Futures are transformed.

JCI Pili Isarog envisions communities where books are valued, reading is celebrated, and every child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential through literacy.

Together, let us turn every house into a reading house, every family into literacy advocates, and every community into a champion of learning.

✨ Read at School. Read at Home. Read in the Community.

✨ Every BASA Needs a BAHAY.

Our freedom is a gift born from the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism of those who came before us. Their history reminds us that independence is not only something we celebrate but also something we protect, strengthen, and pass on.

As JCI Philippines, we continue to answer the call to serve, lead, and create positive change in our communities. Guided by our theme β€œSustain the Future,” we recognize that the freedom we enjoy today carries a responsibility: to build a nation that is more united, inclusive, resilient, and hopeful for the next generation.

May our love for country inspire us to uphold our history, safeguard our freedom, and work together for a brighter Filipino future.

Happy 128th Philippine Independence Day! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡

πŸŒΏπŸ•οΈ Lakbay Katutubo: Discovering Heritage, Building Understanding πŸ•οΈπŸŒΏ

Sometimes, the most meaningful journeys are found close to home.

Through Lakbay Katutubo, JCI Pili Isarog had the privilege of immersing ourselves in the community of the Agta Tabangnon Cimarron Indigenous Peoples, right here in Naga City. Many of us were surprised to learn that an Indigenous Peoples community continues to thrive within our cityβ€”a community that has successfully adapted to modern life while remaining deeply proud of its heritage, identity, and traditions.

Our visit stemmed from our connection with the children who benefited from the Bags of Hope: Lapis Kitang Mahal project. Wanting to learn more about their community and culture, we spent time with Agta Tabangnon Cimarron members, listening to their stories, experiences, and aspirations for the future.

One of the most inspiring parts of the immersion was hearing how strongly they value their roots and cultural identity. Despite being integrated into contemporary society, they continue to preserve their traditions and pass them on to younger generations. They also shared their dream of establishing a dedicated gathering place where members of their Indigenous Peoples community can meet, celebrate their culture, strengthen their bonds, and continue their collective growth.

The immersion was filled with meaningful conversations, cultural storytelling, and exchanges that allowed us to better understand them.

As a simple gesture of support, JCI Pili Isarog also provided additional educational materials for the children, reinforcing our commitment to helping young learners pursue their dreams through education.

Lakbay Katutubo reminded us that cultural appreciation begins with listening, learning, and understanding. By taking the time to know one another, we strengthen the connections that unite us as one community.

To our Agta Tabangnon Cimarron brothers and sisters, thank you for welcoming us into your community and sharing your stories with us. We are honored to have learned from you and inspired by your dedication to preserving your heritage while building a brighter future for the next generation.

✨ Every culture has a story. Every story deserves to be heard.

πŸŽ’πŸ’™ Bags of Hope: Lapis Kitang Mahal πŸ’™πŸŽ’

Every child carries a dream. Sometimes, all they need is a little support to help them take the next step toward it.

JCI Pili Isarog proudly implemented Bags of Hope: Lapis Kitang Mahal, a project dedicated to empowering young learners through education, inspiration, and hope. As part of the initiative, Emergency Go Bags filled with essential school supplies were distributed to 50 student beneficiaries, providing them with tools that will support both their learning and preparedness.

The activity became even more meaningful as the students participated in "Dear Future Me," where they wrote letters and express their dreams, aspirations, and what they hope to become someday.

To instill the value of gratitude and community service, the beneficiaries also took the Oath to Pay It Forward, promising that when they are able, they too will help others and become instruments of positive change in their communities.

The majority of the beneficiaries were children from the Agta Tabangnon Cimarron Indigenous Peoples Community, making this initiative a step toward promoting educational equity and ensuring that no child is left behind in the pursuit of a brighter future.

JCI Pili Isarog extends its sincere gratitude to Winnife Lequin, Principal of Panicuason Elementary School, for her unwavering support and partnership in making this project possible. We also thank the teachers, volunteers, and stakeholders who helped bring smiles, hope, and inspiration to our young learners.

Together, we are not just distributing school suppliesβ€”we are nurturing dreams, building confidence, and inspiring the next generation to believe in themselves and in the power of giving back.

✨ Dream Big. Learn Well. Pay It Forward.

πŸ’§πŸ§Ό Clean Water and Sanitation Program πŸ§ΌπŸ’§

Promoting healthy habits today for a healthier community tomorrow.

JCI Pili Isarog successfully conducted its Clean Water and Sanitation Program at Balatas Elementary School, empowering young learners with essential knowledge and practices on hygiene, sanitation, and water safety.

In partnership with the dedicated Nursing students of the University of Nueva Caceres, students participated in engaging discussions and demonstrations on proper sanitation, safe water practices, and correct handwashing techniques. Through interactive learning activities, the learners gained practical skills that can help prevent diseases and promote overall well-being.

Adding to the learning experience, Dr. Gemma Borromeo of DepEd Naga shared valuable insights on oral health and hygiene, emphasizing the importance of proper dental care and healthy habits among school-aged children.

JCI Pili Isarog President JP also discussed the importance of water safety, responsible water use, awareness of water sources, and the role each individual plays in protecting and conserving this vital resource.

To encourage the practice of good oral hygiene, toothbrushes were distributed to the participating students, reinforcing the lessons learned during the activity and supporting their daily health routines.

JCI Pili Isarog extends its heartfelt gratitude to the University of Nueva Caceres Nursing students, Dr. Gemma Borromeo, the faculty and administration of Balatas Elementary School, and all volunteers who contributed to the success of this meaningful initiative.

Together, we continue to empower our young learners with the knowledge, habits, and resources they need to lead healthier lives and build stronger communities.

✨ Clean Water. Proper Sanitation. Healthy Smiles. Brighter Futures.

🏫🧱 SEMENTOlungan Para sa Kabataan 🧱🏫

Investing in education means building environments where students can learn safely, comfortably, and with pride.

Through SEMENTOlungan Para sa Kabataan, JCI Pili Isarog, with the invaluable support of Del Sol Construction, provided cement donations to selected public elementary schools to help address minor infrastructure needs and improve school facilities.

The donated cement was utilized for projects such as the repair and improvement of perimeter fences, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) facilities, pathways, walkways, and other essential school infrastructure. The manpower and labor for these projects were generously provided by the schools and their communities, while JCI Pili Isarog members also extended assistance in selected repair and improvement activities.

The beneficiary schools of this initiative are:
πŸ“š Capucnasan Elementary School
πŸ“š Concepcion Grande Elementary School
πŸ“š Balatas Elementary School
πŸ“š Salunguigui Elementary School
πŸ“š Sabanag Elementary School
πŸ“š Julian B. Meliton Elementary School

This project demonstrates the power of collaboration among the private sector, educational institutions, and civic leaders in creating sustainable impact for our youth. By strengthening school facilities, we help create safer and more conducive learning environments where students can thrive and reach their full potential.

JCI Pili Isarog extends its sincere gratitude to Del Sol Construction, the school administrators, teachers, parents, community volunteers, and JCI members who worked together to make this initiative possible.

Together, we are not only building structuresβ€”we are building brighter futures for every child.

✨ Stronger Schools. Better Learning. Brighter Futures.

🩸❀️ Blood, Joy, Hope: A Community Blood Donation Drive ❀️🩸

One donation can save lives, and together, we made a difference.

JCI Pili Isarog successfully conducted "Blood, Joy, Hope: A Community Blood Donation Drive" at Leon Mercado High School, bringing together community members, volunteers, and partners in a shared mission to give the gift of life.

This meaningful initiative was made possible through the partnership of JCI Pili Isarog, the Barangay Government of Pacol, and the City Government of Naga, demonstrating the power of collaboration in addressing the ongoing need for safe and adequate blood supplies in our community.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all blood donors, volunteers, healthcare workers, and partners who generously shared their time, effort, and compassion. Your selfless act is a beacon of hope for patients and families who depend on life-saving blood transfusions.
