From July 18 to August 22, the Center for Community Development brought together 362 volunteers across six weeks of outreach, creating opportunities for the AdNU community to Foster Ignatianidad through service, community engagement, and care for creation.
For the past six weeks, every weekend, volunteers shared meals with children and families, facilitated games and learning activities, introduced young participants to the life of St. Ignatius of Loyola, supported the continuing work of Bahay Atenista projects, and took part in tree and mangrove planting and nurturing activities. The outreach also created spaces for community dialogue, including conversations on climate justice and the lived experiences of communities most affected by environmental challenges.
These activities gave concrete expression to the theme of Fostering Ignatianidad and Growing in Friendship with the Lord. In the Ignatian tradition, friendship with the Lord is not lived apart from the realities of others. It calls us to encounter, listen, accompany, and respond—to recognize God’s presence in people, in communities, and in the care of our common home.
Through six weeks of shared work and encounter, Ignatiana 2026 became an opportunity for the AdNU community to put faith into practice: serving not simply by giving, but by being present; not simply by reaching out, but by building relationships; and not simply by completing activities, but by allowing each encounter to deepen our commitment to the greater good.
We sincerely acknowledge the Office of the President for providing boxes of crackers and cake bars, and the University Chaplaincy Office for donating food provisions for the Project Salud Feeding Program. We also extend our appreciation to all AdNU offices, student organizations, and individual volunteers whose participation and support contributed to the success of this year’s Ignatiana outreach activities.
Your collective efforts strengthened the spirit of service and solidarity that lies at the heart of Ignatianidad. Diyos Mabalos!
