Partners with GentleMen Bicol & Balay Caceres to tackle stories that challenges stigma.

Naga City, Philippines — Gentleman Bicol, Balay Caceres Community Center, Sining Banwa, and DALAN Theatre & Events Collaborative are coming together to strengthen HIV awareness through theatre as GymGurls 1&too stages its one-weekend run at IBP Hall, Naga City this July 4 and 5, 2026.

Gentleman Bicol has been a key community partner of Sining Banwa in helping shape a more aware, sensitive, and fact-based approach to the HIV awareness campaign connected to the GymGurls franchise. Through theatre, the production opens space for conversations on stigma, survival, love, health, and the lived experiences of people living with HIV.

With DALAN joining the partnership, the campaign now reaches Naga audiences through a wider cultural and community platform. The collaboration aims to ensure that the message of the production is not only seen on stage, but also amplified beyond the performance itself.

As part of the one-weekend event, audiences and community members will also have access to free HIV testing and safer intimacy essentials at IBP Hall, in partnership with Gentleman Bicol and Balay Caceres Community Center. This initiative supports the shared goal of making theatre a bridge between storytelling, awareness, and accessible community health services.

GymGurls follows four individuals living with HIV who find an unlikely sanctuary inside “The Gym,” a specialized wellness center hidden within a deeply conservative community. Through sharp humor, searing dialogue, and human storytelling, the play confronts stigma while exploring survival, love, betrayal, and the search for dignity.

Its sequel, GymGurls, too, takes place ten years later, as the same characters reunite at the gym. Their reunion is disrupted by the arrival of a mysterious package, forcing them to face heartbreak, unfinished dreams, and the truth of their shared past.

“At its core, GymGurls 1&too is not only a theatre experience. It is a conversation starter,” DALAN Theatre & Events Collaborative shared. “Through this partnership with Gentleman Bicol, Balay Caceres Community Center, and Sining Banwa, we hope to create a space where audiences can leave more informed, more compassionate, and more open to understanding HIV beyond fear and stigma.”

The partnership reflects a shared belief that local theatre can be both artistic and socially responsive. By bringing together performance, factual awareness, community support, and accessible health services, the one-weekend event positions GymGurls 1&too as more than a show. It becomes a meaningful cultural and advocacy experience for Naga City.

GymGurls 1&too will be staged at IBP Hall, Naga City for one weekend only.

GymGurls 1 will run on July 4, 2026, with a 3:00 PM Matinee Show and a 6:00 PM Talkback Show.

GymGurls, too will run on July 5, 2026, with a 3:00 PM Matinee Show and a 6:00 PM Talkback Show.

Public tickets are available at tickets.dalankita.com.

For partnerships, sponsorships, and community reservations, audiences and organizations may contact DALAN Theatre & Events Collaborative at [email protected] or through its official channels.
