Inviting Wikimedia contributors to share their insights to help the PhilWiki Community, Commons Photographers User Group and co-organizers plan a conference for the Wikimedia Commons community in the Philippines and beyond.

In 2023, the WikiCommons PH Conference which is a national conference of contributors on Wikimedia Commons, was held at Avenue Plaza Hotel, Magsaysay Avenue in Naga City, Bicol. This conference brought together participants from different Wiki Loves photography contests, photography enthusiasts, and heritage advocates, intending to strengthen collaboration and better understand the issues faced among the contributors, and to look for solutions.

Inviting all Wikimedia Commons contributors to participate in the Conference Community Engagement Survey - Wikimedia Commons Conference 2026.

The purpose of this survey is to help the PhilWiki Community, Commons Photographers User Group, and co-organizers plan a conference for the Wikimedia Commons community in the Philippines and beyond.

The PhilWiki Community board has expressed its readiness to support the organization of the conference, providing logistical and organizational assistance to ensure its success.

Your responses will help organizers understand the level of demand for the event (i.e., how many people in your community believe it is important that the event takes place) and begin to establish a consensus on what topics are most important to this community.

Types of scholarship:
1. Full Scholarship covers the meals during the conference, a shared room for accommodation and transportation from the city of origin to Cebu City vice versa

The final jury members have determined the finalists and winning entries in the Wiki Loves Food Philippines 2024!

SWEEP!

Jesse Alegre's appetizing photograph of Vigan Empanada was adjudged best entry in the latest edition of Wiki Loves Food Philippines. The local snack is well-known in the Ilocos Region which main ingredients are vegetables like papaya or cabbage, meat and egg.

He also captured the 2nd Place with his entry entitled Balicucha. His photograph of the sweet candy made from sugarcane is a perfect natural sweetener for coffee and tea. It is also a product from his beloved Ilocos Region.

The veteran photographer from Vigan has won all top prizes in the last three editions of Wiki Loves Food Philippines earning him a spot in the "Wall of Fame" of Wiki Loves Philippines photography contests!

Taking into the consideration the technical quality, originality and usefulness of image as an illustration on Wikipedia, here are the top 12 photographs depicting the unique Filipino cuisine.

Winning the 3rd Place is Herbert Kikoy, an award-winning street photographer for his depiction of an empanada delicacy in his beloved city of Cebu. Four more entries under his name made it as finalists.

Aside from his winning photograph, Herbert Kikoy also won the special prize for the most number of quality entries submitted in the competition!

This year's panel of jurors are Bijay Chaurasia, Wasiul Bahar, Elbert Baeta, Mrb Rafi, Irvin Sto. Tomas and Shreya Dwivedi.

It's then fried until crispy and coated with caramelized brown sugar. Sometimes, strips of jackfruit are added for extra flavor and texture. Turon is a beloved street food and a delightful treat for any occasion.

It is made of “suman” with pili caramel sauce and topped with mango and pili nuts.

This is it, pansit! Today is the last day of submission for Wiki Loves Food Philippines 2024.

Wiki Loves Food Philippines is a photography competition on Wikimedia Commons which aims to promote the Filipino cuisine, and the rich cooking traditions and practices in the country. Now on its 3rd year, the competition aims to celebrate the diversity of Filipino cuisine in different parts of the archipelago.

Competition runs from November 1 to December 31, 2024.

First prize - P 10,000
Second prize - P 7,500
Third prize - P 5,000

A special prize worth P 3,000 shall be awarded to the participant with the most number of entries depicting a variety of Filipino cuisine.

Criteria (in no particular order):
*Originality
*Technical quality i.e. sharpness, use of light, perspective etc.
*Usefulness as an illustration on Wikipedia articles
