Ang tradisyon ay bahagi ng ating pagkakakilanlan. Ito ang nag-uugnay sa mga nauna sa atin at sa mga susunod pang henerasyon. Ngunit dapat nating tandaan: ang tradisyon ay hindi kailanman dapat maging dahilan ng pananakit, paglabag sa batas, o pagkawala ng buhay. Ang tradisyon ay hindi kaaway ng pagbabago. ito ang apoy na nag-uugnay sa nakaraan, kasalukuyan, at hinaharap.

Sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 11053, malinaw na ipinagbabawal ang anumang uri ng hazing at gawaing nagdudulot ng pisikal o sikolohikal na pinsala. Ang batas na ito ay hindi kalaban ng kapatiran — ito ay paalala na ang tunay na kapangyarihan ay may kasamang pananagutan.

Ang tradisyon ay nagiging masama kapag:

Ito ay ginagamit upang manakit imbes na maghubog
Ito ay nagiging instrumento ng takot imbes na paggalang
Ito ay sumisira ng buhay imbes na bumuo ng karakter
Hindi kailangang may masaktan at mawalan ng buhay upang mapatunayan ang tapang.
Hindi kailangang may magdusa upang mapatunayan ang katapatan.

Ang tunay na kapatiran ay nasusukat sa:

Disiplina na may dignidad
Pamumuno na may malasakit
Paghubog na nakabatay sa edukasyon, serbisyo, at moral na prinsipyo
Pagkakaisang may respeto sa batas at sa karapatang pantao

Ang isang fraternity ay dapat nagkakaisa sa isang mas mataas na pamantayan, isang kapatirang matatag ngunit makatao, tradisyunal ngunit makabago ang pananaw, disiplinado ngunit hindi marahas.

Kung nais nating igalang tayo ng lipunan, kailangan nating patunayan na kaya nating itaguyod ang tradisyon nang walang sinasaktan.

Kung nais nating manatiling buhay ang ating mga organisasyon, kailangan nating tiyakin na ang bawat miyembro ay ligtas, ginagabayan, at hinuhubog nang tama.

Ang apoy ng kapatiran ay dapat magbigay liwanag sa komunidad — hindi magdulot ng dilim.

Sa lahat ng fraternity:
Panatilihin ang dangal. Itama ang mali. Iangat ang pamantayan.
At patunayan na ang tunay na kapatiran ay nakatayo sa respeto, disiplina, at dignidad ng bawat tao. 🔥
