Awarded as 1 of the Outstanding Community Based Alumni Association during APO 36th National General Assembly - 2025 History of APO-Oragon Metro Naga Alumni Association

There are plethora of alumni clubs in the area composed of brothers from their generations, some are of common interests, and others are of I can say “kanya-kanyang tropa”. The idea of organizing an area wide alumni association i

s not a new concept in the Naga City area, however since the birth of APO in Bicol, there is no officially recognize and area wide alumni group in Metro Naga. In the late 2005, there was this band of brothers gathering frequently for small talks, reminiscing, and lots of bottles of beer. Cruz, Naga City, came up of formally organizing an alumni club from the different chapters of Area 2A. The prime rationale of the group is to gather alumni members of APO in Metro Naga in extending service oriented programs beyond college life to assist the resident brothers within the area in their programs if the need arises and to work closely with the different chapters of Alpha Phi Omega in Metro Naga on projects. The first organizational meeting of the club was held on February 28, 2006 at bro. Cortez’s farm, Sta. Cruz, Naga City. The brothers present were: Allan Trilles, Niño Llyod Darilay, John Emmanuel Gutierez, Emman Rivera, Alfie Cortez, Cello Sison, Louie Ordoñez, Marlow Caringal, Paul Pasilaban, Jose Magno Fortuna, Erwin Verzosa and a guest Resident Brother, Jay-r Gumabao. Because membership in this fledging alumni association is not finally defined, those brothers regularly present and pledged their support for the group was considered as members temporarily. The 2nd Alumni Association Core Group Meeting was held on March 11, 2006 at Bro. Trilles’ Residence, 12 members attend the assembly, 3 were residents. The proposed 1st project of the association was laid to start up everything, the finance of the association was also discussed and the proposed association name was conversed. Subsequent meetings were held; and after mind tinkling discussions, the organization was name ΑΦΩ-ORAGON, METRO NAGA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, the first Constitution and By Laws was adopted, and the first project of the organization was the “Children’s Day” held at Brgy. Pangpang, Canaman, Camarines Sur last March 26, 2006. Since there is no formal election of officers yet until September 9, 2006, the members appointed four significant positions to form the managerial board of the association: Bro. Allan Trilles was appointed the chairman, Bro. Emman Rivera as treasurer, Bro. Marlow Caringal as informant, and Bro. Emmanuel John Gutierez as scribe; but Bro. Gutierrez had to leave for abroad so the office was transferred to Bro. Erwin Verzosa. The first official set of officers of the organization were; President: Allan Trilles, Vice-President: Dennis San Jose, Secretary: Erwin Versoza, Treasurer: Emmanuel Rivera, Auditor: Paul Pasilaban, P.I.O.: Marlow Caringal, Bus. Managers: Jay Cecilio and Alfie Cortez, and Property Custodian: Elaine Demdam. And on September 30, 2006, the new ratified Constitution and By Law was adopted. The organization had to suffer for membership losses because four of its members had to fled abroad to seek for a greener pasture. Nevertheless, they remained committed to the purpose of the organization. Among the projects done by the organization on since its existence were: the Children’s Day, the free snacks for the participants during the annual “Alay-Lakad”, school supplies donation at Fundado Elementary School last June 16, the Blood Letting Program in coordination with the local Red Cross chapter held July 26, “Clean-up” last Sept. 8, and the tree-planting at the Metro Naga Watershed at Pili, Cam. Sur, and fund raising projects includes the “cake pa-raffle” and the “cell phone generosity pa-raffle.”

Subsequent projects were conducted like the Medical and Dental Missions at Tinambac and Libmanan, the 2nd Blood Letting Program, the Information Board at Sta. Cruz, Naga City and the “Balik APO, Balik Chapter” with Bro. Joe Eco. Setbacks come and go and criticisms came from every corners, but the organization stands firms on it purpose and proved to own its ground in the world of APO in Bicolandia. The emblem of the organization was designed by Bro. Alfie Cortez, The silhouette triangular seal is circumscribed by the letter O, which is the first letter of the word “Oragon.“ the name of the organization. In the interior of the Seal is the map of Metro Naga, where the members reside and the jurisdiction where primarily of our programs are conducted. The Cardinal Principles: Leadership, Friendship and Service, are embedded in the 3 triangles of the Seal. Since its inception, the organization has been closely guided by its advisors: Bro. Carlos A. Cortes and Bro Gil D. Sunguad III, both were from Alpha Nu Chapter. Bro. Allan Trilles served as its First Association President (2006-2013), followed by Bro. Jeorge T. Imperial(2014-2020), as its 2nd AA President, spearheaded the Banner Service Projects that serves as inspiration to other Alumni Associations not only in the nearby areas but also in the Bicol Region. Now, under the New Set of Energetic and Vibrant Officers, Additional New Members, and able Advisers, the services and projects will continue to a greater heights. APO Oragon Metro Naga Alumni Association No. 185 is now registered under the Securities & Exchange Commission, an Alumni Association in the Bicol Region recognized by Alpha Phi Omega Philippines Incorporated and registered under the Securities and Exchange Commission. Living up to its commitment, by the principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service, The "ORAGON Way". APO ORAGON 185, Metro Naga Alumni Association Incorporated
