WHO WE ARE NOW, IS WHERE WE CAME FROM.

As the month of May approached, members and officers of KaPEERmilyang Nabasnon were given a chance to participate in the recent Youth Forum on Heritage last May 6 to 8, held at the 3rd floor of the function hall of the Nabas Municipal Building. They were one of the lucky participants who were educated about the conducted Youth Forum on Heritage facilitated by Mr. John Delan Robillos, from the NCCA, Mr. Buji Babiera, an online content creator, and Ms. Chris Insigne, from the Filipino Heritage Festival Inc. and the Youth Forum on Heritage Focal Person. Together with them was Mr. Jilson Tiu, the ambassador of FUJI film Philippines, who stopped by the venue to give a few words of his own.

It was an honor that the members were one of the participants as they have acquired new knowledge on the program that they have joined. Lastly, special thanks to Mr. Bryan Briones, the Tourism Chief Designate of the Municipality of Nabas, Aklan, for conducting such program for the youths of Nabas. May the knowledge passed on to the participants be an inspiration to love and know our beloved town more as everything around us starts to grow, may we not forget where we started, because it will not cause us to be here now.

Did you know? 𝑨𝑷𝑹𝑰𝑳 𝑰𝑺 𝑺𝑻𝑹𝑬𝑺𝑺 𝑨𝑾𝑨𝑹𝑬𝑵𝑬𝑺𝑺 𝑴𝑶𝑵𝑻𝑯~ ❤️‍🩹🍃

As April is nearing its end, this post serves as a gentle reminder to take a deep breath and have some time to rest. Go for a walk, read a book, catch up with friends. Do what soothes your head and heart. 🪷

𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆, it's part of our daily life. All of us are facing life challenges and experiencing obstacles which make us feel overwhelmed and numb. Everyone copes with stress differently, some crash out, some isolate, and some stay silent. While we all have different perspectives and mindsets in life, understanding one another can greatly benefit not just oneself, but others too. ☺️

𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒃𝒂𝒅🎭. Some are rewarding, while some are draining. According to Harvard Health Publishing, the body’s stress response is designed to help one rise to challenges, encouraging resilience and bravery. With that being said, it's important to acknowledge what your body's whispering and when to take a break. 😮‍💨

𝑭𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒍, it's not something to hide or be ashamed of. Sometimes, carrying everything alone can feel heavy and exhausting🧸. However, "𝒏𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒏 𝒊𝒔𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅"; reach out to a trusted person, reconnect with loved ones, bond with friends, or even talk to us! We all are dealing with our own baggage, and what better way to deal with them than solving and slowly healing together. 🫂

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 || The 𝙋𝙚𝙚𝙧 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙉𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙨 took part in the 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝘼𝙄𝘿𝙎 𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙡𝙚 𝙇𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 held yesterday, December 6, 2025, at the 3rd Floor Municipal Function Hall. The event was facilitated by the 𝙇𝙔𝘿𝙊 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙉𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙨 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙁𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙆𝙖𝙋𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙮𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙉𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙣𝙤𝙣 (Municipal Federation of Peer Educators – Nabas, Aklan) lending support to the activities while others participated in the program.

The activity was spearheaded by the medical students of 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 ( 𝗪𝗩𝗦𝗨 ), 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗽𝗶𝘂𝘀, which aimed to spread awareness about HIV and AIDS, proper testing, and encourage people to have a healthy life, free from STI.

The Peer Educators learned how to prevent and protect themselves from HIV and AIDS, know its impact, and how to stop the virus from spreading. The event was not only informative but also fun, interactive, and full of meaning.

After the discussions, everybody gathered outside the Municipal Hall to form a human ribbon, with candles, letters , and balloons in hand as a way to express solidarity. A devotional prayer was also given as a tribute to those angels we have lost and a reminder to continue to present love, joy, hope, and knowledge in our communities.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 || The Kapeermilyang Nabasnon held their 3rd Quarterly Meeting on August 5, 2025, at the Adolescent Clinic - RHU Nabas in Nabas, Aklan. The meeting was attended by active members and was led by Mr. John Carl Danay, with the support and guidance of Ma'am Sally S. Pre and Dr. Minzy Delos Reyes.

The session began with introductory remarks, followed by an in-depth discussion of upcoming community initiatives. Key highlights included the election of new officers for the organization, ensuring a fresh leadership team to guide future efforts.

A major focus of the meeting was the planning for World AIDS Day, where members brainstormed on the target audience, activities, and the event venue to ensure a successful and impactful celebration. The group also discussed the distribution of PREP medicine to promote HIV prevention and raise awareness in the community.

The meeting concluded with discussions on upcoming events, including the PeedEd Summit, aimed at continuing the momentum for community education and youth empowerment.

This quarterly meeting marked a significant step forward in the growth of Kapeermilyang Nabasnon, strengthening connections among members and setting the stage for future initiatives to support Nabas Youths. 🌱

NEW SCHOOL YEAR, NEW SET OF OFFICERS!

The peer facilitators of Western Aklan Academy Inc., the 𝗞𝗮𝗣𝗘𝗘𝗥𝗸𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗻𝘀, have done their appointment of peer officers for the school year 2025-2026 last June 30, 2025 at WAA Library.

Meanwhile, a short meeting was done after the appointment, and the meeting was conducted by 3 officers from KaPEERmilyang Nabasnon, namely: Ma'am SALLY S. PRE, Registered Nurse 3 of RHU Nabas, AHD Coordinator, Ms. ALLYANNA FAITH H. GALAN, Vice President of KaPEERmilyang Nabasnon, and Mr. JOHN CARL D. DANAY, President of KaPEERmilyang Nabasnon. A courtesy call, earlier that day was conducted in Nabas Adolescent Health Clinic by Sir Palomata and Sir Castillon from the Guidance Office of WAA and Ma'am Pre, the AHD Coordinator.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to Sir Glenbert Palomata, Guidance Associate and Sir Edilberto Castillon II, Guidance Counselor of Western Aklan Academy, Inc. for their guidance and support to our newly appointed officers of KaPEERkadang Maroons. Also, to the others volunteers and peer educators of WAA.

The KaPEERmilyang Nabasnon conducted its 1st quarterly meeting on February 25, 2025 in a virtual space. The meeting was spearheaded by the KaPEERmilya President, John Carl Danay and Nabas AHD Coordinator, Mrs. Sally S. Pre. This meeting was conducted in preparation for the upcoming activities and plans for the continuous implementation of adolescent health and development program in Nabas for the year 2025-2026.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 l Three (3) peer educators from 𝐤𝐚𝑷𝑬𝑬𝑹𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝑵𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒏𝒐𝒏, namely; EJ Amacio, Allyanna Faith H. Galan, and Nathaniel M. Sarceno along side with other peer educators from the municipalities of Madalag, Banga, Malay, Tangalan and Makato, actively facilitated in the U4U Teen Trail Initiative conducted at Mamba, Madalag, Aklan last October 20, 2024.

You-for-You (U4U) Teen Trail Initiative is a communication campaign to prevent early pre-marital s*x among teens. It intents to increase the knowledge of Filipino youth on delaying s*xual debut, avoiding s*xually transmitted infections and preventing teen pregnancy. This activity were conducted to the 50 youth participants of Barangay Mamba.

The teen trail initiative featured four stations — Teen Color, Teen Chat, Teen Exhibit, and Teen Tunes—all designed to provide valuable information in a fun and engaging manner to the 50 active and participative youth participants of Barangay Mamba.

A big salute to the dedicated SK Officials of Mamba, headed by Hon. Christian Navarrosa, SK Chairman, the Barangay Council of Mamba headed by Hon. Raquel R. Nala, Barangay Captain for their dedication and commitment on making this event possible,and to RHU Madalag headed by Dr. Josephine Ricamonte for her unwavering support and Mrs. Analy Padalhin, Midwife of Mamba Barangay Health Station who devoted her effort throughout the event.
We would like also to express our appreciation to Mr. Raffy T. Relator, AKPGGO AHD Assistant Coordinator for spearheading this event and for giving this opportunity to our kaPEERmilya to facilitate in this event.
