CropLife Philippines welcomes the approval of HIZ039 rice, a biotech rice variety enriched with iron and zinc.🍚

This milestone shows how science, technology, and innovation in agriculture help address real needs in food, farming, and nutrition.

Once available, HIZ039 rice has the potential to support efforts against anemia, stunting, and poor nutrition, especially among children and mothers.

Farmers came with real crop problems. Plant doctors came ready to help.

At the Plant Doctors on Wheels in Lucena City, Quezon, farmers brought damaged crop samples, invasive weeds, and pest specimens for diagnosis and guidance from scientists and crop protection experts.

The pest clinic covered concerns affecting corn, cacao, coconut, vegetables, and other major crops.

The event also featured talks on pest and disease management, proper pesticide handling, pesticide label risks, online buying and selling concerns, and biocontrol agents for sustainable farming.

The activity ended with the awarding of certificates to plant doctors and farmer participants.

When science listens to farmers, better decisions reach the field.

This initiative was made possible by the Pest Management Council of the Philippines, Inc. (PMCP), Philippine Phytopathological Society, Inc. (PPS), in collaboration with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist of Quezon, industry partners, and CropLife Philippines.
