Tomorrow, come and discover the beautiful crafts and carefully knotted rosaries made by women deprived of liberty from the Correctional Institution for Women.

Each piece reflects patience, creativity, faith, and hope. More than the work of skilled hands, these creations remind us that even within prison walls, the human spirit continues to pray, create, dream, and begin again.

Gospel: Luke 9:18 - 22 | Peter's Confession About Jesus

Lord Jesus, Peter recognized You as the Christ, yet he still had much to learn about what following You truly meant. Help me move beyond simply knowing about You and teach me to know You personally. Give me the courage to follow You even when discipleship becomes difficult or demands sacrifice. May I recognize You in those who suffer, those who are imprisoned, and those who long for another chance. Strengthen my faith so that I may accompany others with a heart that reflects Your compassion. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Another Batch Completes BAGITA: Bagong Landas! 🌱

Another group of newly admitted Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) has successfully completed BAGITA: Bagong Landas, the formation and accompaniment program of the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service Foundation.

BAGITA seeks to accompany women as they begin the difficult journey of imprisonment. Through reflection, creative activities, and sharing, participants are invited to look back and own their personal stories, recognizing the experiences and choices that brought them to where they are today.

The program also helps them recognize the “liwanag at anino” of life in prison—the struggles, fears, and losses they carry, but also the relationships, opportunities, and graces that can help them cope, heal, and grow. They are encouraged to develop greater resilience and wellness, discover opportunities for personal formation while inside, and begin imagining a life of renewed purpose beyond imprisonment.

At its heart, Bagita: Bagong Landas reminds each participant that while she cannot change the past, she can choose what she does with the present and what kind of future she begins to build today. Imprisonment need not be the end of her story. It can also become a time for reflection, accountability, healing, growth, and a new beginning.

We are especially grateful to our dear RVM Sisters, who generously helped facilitate the sessions and personally accompanied our participants throughout the program. Thank you for sharing in our mission of presence and hope. Your compassionate accompaniment reminds our PDL sisters that they do not have to walk this journey alone.

✨ THIS SATURDAY AT ATENEO ROCKWELL: MEET “KAABAY” ✨

Join us at the PJPS LikhaLaya Arts and Crafts Fair this Saturday and discover Kaabay, a special-edition resin figurine lovingly created by Person Restored of Liberty Tatay LJ.

Inspired by the Cebuano word abay, meaning to accompany or journey beside another, Kaabay portrays the Holy Family as companions in the ordinary journey of life. Mary, Joseph, and Jesus remind us that through our joys, uncertainties, struggles, and hopes, no one needs to walk alone.

Tatay LJ’s creation is more than a beautiful work of art. It is also a testimony to the creativity, dignity, and new possibilities that can unfold when a person is given accompaniment and a second chance.

There will also be other resin figurines made by Tatay LJ available in Likhalaya! We hope to see you there!

Gospel: Luke 9:7 - 9 | Herod Is Perplexed by Jesus

Lord Jesus, there are moments when I search for answers but fail to recognize that You are already near. Like Herod, I can become curious about You without truly allowing You to transform my heart. Give me the grace to move beyond curiosity and into genuine faith. When I am confused about my life, my failures, or my future, help me seek You with sincerity. May those who feel lost, especially persons deprived of liberty, discover that their story is not finished. Guide us toward healing, truth, and a hope rooted in Your presence. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Ano Ba Ang Bakit Mo?

On a rainy afternoon at the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service, the usual busyness of work was momentarily set aside.

Instead, the PJPS staff were invited to pause, listen, pray, and reflect during a Staff Formation session on Ignatian Discernment led by John Paul “Lance” A. Bolano, a theology instructor at Ateneo de Manila University.

Through stories, reflection, and activities, the staff explored how Ignatian spirituality can help us make decisions with greater freedom, wisdom, and openness to God.

One beautiful reminder from the session was that discernment is often not about choosing between something good and something bad. Sometimes, we are choosing between two good paths. Choosing one does not make the other less meaningful. It simply allows us to give ourselves more fully to the good we are being called to pursue.

In the midst of our work, we all need moments to pause and ask: Where is God leading me? What is my why? What kind of person am I being called to become?

As PJPS continues its mission of accompanying persons deprived of liberty and their families, may our service always be guided by prayer, compassion, and a listening heart.

* The Fair is from 10 AM to 7 PM.
* Admission is free.
* Parking is available at the Powerplant Mall across from Ateneo Rockwell
* You may enter either through the Hidalgo Drive or Rockwell Drive Entrances.
* There will be security checks upon entering. Please bring an ID to secure a visitor’s pass.
* Single-use plastics are not allowed inside the campus. We encourage you to bring your tumblers and eco/tote bags.
* Food and drinks are available from Chef Jessie and Ex-Preso.
* There will be a special program at 2:30 PM at the Chapel.
* The Mass is at 5:15PM.

Lord Jesus, You send Your disciples to bring Your message to others with trust, simplicity, and courage. Through the example of Saint Pio, teach me to serve with humility and deep faith. Help me remember that I do not need to have everything before I can become an instrument of Your love. Give me the courage to go where You send me, especially toward people who are hurting, forgotten, or searching for hope. Bless everyone involved in prison ministry. May our presence communicate that Your mercy reaches even the places where people feel most forgotten. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Gospel: Luke 8:19 - 21 | My Mother and My Brothers Are Those Who Hear the Word of God and Act on It

Loving Father, Jesus reminds me that hearing Your Word is not enough. I am called to live it through the way I treat others. Help me turn prayer into action, faith into service, and compassion into concrete love. May I recognize that my brothers and sisters are not only those closest to me but everyone whom You place along my path. Bless families separated by imprisonment and strengthen the bonds of love that distance cannot destroy. May our lives show that we truly belong to Your family. In Jesus' name, Amen.
