Zamboanga 1st District Rep. Khymer Adan Olaso has filed House Bill No. 11211 or the “Death Penalty for Corruption Act,” proposing death by firing squad for any public official — from the president down to barangay leaders — found guilty by the Sandiganbayan of graft, malversation, or plunder.

The bill seeks to impose the harshest punishment on those who steal public funds, aiming to send a strong message that corruption will no longer be tolerated.

DEATH PENALTY BY FIRING SQUAD FOR CORRUPT POLITICIANS?

A lawmaker on Tuesday filed House Bill No. 11211, known as the "Death Penalty for Corruption Act," that seeks to impose the death penalty by firing squad on public officials convicted of graft and corruption, malversation of public funds, or plunder.

Zamboanga 1st District Representative Khymer Adan Olaso said the bill covers all public officials, from the president to the lowest barangay official, as well as members of the military and police.

The measure stipulates that the death penalty will only be carried out after the conviction is affirmed by the Supreme Court and all legal remedies have been exhausted.

The bill aims to deter corruption and ensure public accountability, with safeguards in place to uphold due process.
