Paid Maternity Leave (RA 11210 – 105-Day Expanded Maternity Leave Law, 2019)

Breastfeeding in Public Spaces (RA 10028)

“Maternity protection policies and the enabling environment for breastfeeding in the Philippines: a qualitative study” (https://doi.org/10.1186/s13006-023-00594-w)

📢 We commemorate World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) from August 1-7, with this year’s theme Invest in Breastfeeding, Invest in the Future.

Ads promoting breast-milk substitutes (BMS) and growing-up milks on TV and social media appear thousands of times across platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Tiktok, and company websites and influence mothers’ recall, as reported in our 2021 study (https://accesstonutrition.org/app/uploads/2021/05/ATNF_Phillipines_Report_FINAL_05.04.21.pdf)

❗ These promotions can mislead parents and weaken confidence in breastfeeding—especially when they come from popular online sources.

Breastfeeding is one of the best investments we can make for a child’s health, development, and the future of our communities. To protect that investment:

✅ National and local government agencies should enforce Executive Order 51, enact policies to protect breastfeeding and prevent commercial influence over infant feeding.

✅ Complementary foods for 6–36 month olds should be marketed responsibly, following WHO guidance.

Let’s protect breastfeeding and invest in a healthier future for all

The Nutrition Center of the Philippines (NCP) has stood strong for over five decades, promoting lasting impact in every community we serve.
This Nutrition Month 2025, we proudly stand behind the call:
“Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!”
🥖 Because nutrition isn’t just a program —
it’s a right, a mission, and a shared responsibility.
Let’s continue building a nutrition-secure future for all Filipinos — today, and every day.
🌾 Thank you for joining us in this journey toward a healthier, nourished nation.

🍞 Project Spotlight: Nutripan sa Eskwelahan
As part of our commitment to nutrition security, the Nutrition Center of the Philippines pioneered the Nutripan sa Eskwelahan — a school-based bakery project that makes affordable, nutritious bread available right where it’s needed most: in our schools.
🏫 Schools serve not just as learning spaces — but also as community nutrition hubs.
Through Nutripan, students get access to healthy snacks, and communities are empowered with sustainable, local food solutions.
This project is a direct response to this year’s Nutrition Month theme:
“Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!”
🌱 Because every child deserves nourishment — and every school can be a partner in securing a nutrition-secure future for all.

The Nutrition Center of the Philippines (NCP) is honored to have participated in the 2025 Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) held last July 1–3 in Mandaluyong City.

As a proud member of SUN CSA Philippines, we joined fellow advocates from 32 countries to champion the role of local governance in strengthening ECCD systems—especially for the most vulnerable.

During the conference, we highlighted NCP’s ongoing work in promoting nutrition in the First 1,000 Days (F1KD), a critical window for a child’s growth and development, and our commitment to advancing inclusive, responsive, and community-based nutrition programs.

We’re also proud to stand alongside our fellow SUN CSA members:
🌾 IIRR shared their initiative on healthy food systems in Guinayangan, Quezon.
🎒 Save the Children Philippines presented their current ECCD training and projects.

We continue to push for equitable and holistic early childhood care, because every child deserves a healthy start.
