On July 9, 2026, the BA Literature Student Council finally held its Department Orientation and General Assembly at the University Auditorium. The program opened with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, Doxology, and CLSU Hymn.
Dr. Mark Anthony G. Moyano, the Head of Department of English and Humanities, welcomes the first year students and introduced the program. Through his remarkable speech, one thing stays in our mind: that the BA Literature program is truly cannot be underestimated; that we the students of literatures are unique, and once again reminds us, "Hindi lang text ang binabasa natin, pati mismo ang mundo."
As the program proceeds, Dr. Daisy O. Casipit introduces the Department of the English and Humanities (DEH) Faculty Officials to the students, which shows significance to the program, especially to the freshmen BALitt students are not well familiar with the Professors and Instructors within the department. It was followed by the discussion of academic regulations and procedures by Mr. John Arvin De Roxas, an overview of the grading system presented by Dr. Joan C. Ravago, and a discussion of the 2024 Revised BA Literature curriculum by Ms. Evelita C. Alamani. Also, Dr. Sharina Carla S. Merculio presented the BALitt uniform, polo shirt, and BALitt Uniform Day.
Furthermore, Mr. John Arvin De Roxas, on behalf of Associate Professor Christine L. Saturno, presented the newly elected and appointed BA Literature Student Council and Committees that will foresee the upcoming events for the Academic Year 2026-2027 of the BA Literature program. Moving to the second part of the event, Ms. Renea Lee B. Alcantara, introduced the guest speaker, Ms. Lorraine Fabros, who has been an inspiration to many, shared an impactful speech that the studentry will always remember.
The previous council president, Mx. Laycelle Mae C. Novenario, discussed the accomplishments of the Academic Year 2025-2026โa presentation that shows every dedications and efforts the previous council officers had committed. Ms. Irish T. Sibuma, the new elected President of the BA Literature Student Council, discussed the revised constitution and by-laws for A.Y. 2026-2027, and the introduced the student council's proposal plans for the upcoming months. It highlights different interactive activities such as Literary Olympic, Literary Jam, Beyond the Pages: BALITT Community Fiesta, and different events that the students have to look forward.
The program also included intermission numbers from the students across different blocks that showcase their talents that filled the room with entertainment. Ms. Irish T. Sibuma delivered the closing remarks, capping off a day of learning, updates, and renewed connection among Litt-mates. The event concluded with an open forum, where the students raised their concerns and inquiries.
