π΄ WHY DO WE USE RED LIGHT AT NIGHT?
Protecting Sea Turtles During Nesting Season
Sea turtles rely on natural darkness to nest, return safely to the ocean, and help hatchlings find their way to the sea. Artificial white lights and camera flashes can confuse and disturb these critical behaviors.
Red light is the preferred option because it has a much lower impact on sea turtles, allowing researchers, volunteers, and beach visitors to observe and protect them while minimizing disturbance.
π’ You Can Help:
π΄ Use only red lights at night.
πΈ Never use flash photography.
βοΈ Keep a respectful distance.
ποΈ Keep beaches Clean β’ Dark β’ Flat.
Together, we can help ensure a safer future for sea turtles.
