🔴 WHY DO WE USE RED LIGHT AT NIGHT?
Protecting Sea Turtles During Nesting Season

Sea turtles rely on natural darkness to nest, return safely to the ocean, and help hatchlings find their way to the sea. Artificial white lights and camera flashes can confuse and disturb these critical behaviors.

Red light is the preferred option because it has a much lower impact on sea turtles, allowing researchers, volunteers, and beach visitors to observe and protect them while minimizing disturbance.

🔴 Use only red lights at night.
📸 Never use flash photography.
↔️ Keep a respectful distance.
🏖️ Keep beaches Clean • Dark • Flat.

🐢📋 Strengthening Partnerships for a Safer Nesting Season! 💚🌊

Yesterday, July 29, 2026, our Center Manager, Ms. Angel & Head of Bantay Pawikan Volunteers, Kuya Nikko, attended a productive meeting with SB Jomar Albarda Castro SB Kathyleen Vicedo and SB James Darwin Castro, together with representatives from the Pawikan Sa Damara Association Pres.Edson Puno and SAGIP Pawikan Sitio Fuerte Pres. Arnold Mendoza. 🤝🐢

The meeting focused on elevating concerns affecting our hatchery operations as part of our preparations for the upcoming nesting season. 🥚🛡️

📋 Key Concerns Discussed:

1️⃣ Lambat pangalabaw – fishing nets that pose risks to nesting turtles
2️⃣ A*o – stray dogs threatening nests and hatchlings 🐕🚫
3️⃣ Poachers – illegal egg collection and disturbance of nesting sites 🥚🚫
4️⃣ Beach resort lighting – artificial lights disorienting hatchlings and nesting mothers 💡🌙
5️⃣ Campers and curfew violators – human activity disrupting nesting areas 🏕️🚫
6️⃣ Basura – trash polluting our shores and harming marine life 🚯🏝️

🐢💚 Together with our partners and local government, we are committed to addressing these challenges to ensure a safer and more successful nesting season.

Mula sa Dilim, Patungo sa Liwanag.

Mas maliwanag na ngayon ang gabi sa Sagip Pawikan Sitio Fuerte Hatchery dahil sa Solar Lighting Project na ipinagkaloob ng Aboitiz Power.

May mga solar lights mang nawala noon, mas marami naman ngayon ang muling nagbibigay-liwanag patunay na ang tunay na suporta ay hindi natitinag ng anumang pagsubok.

Hindi lamang ilaw ang hatid ng proyektong ito. Ang solar energy ay isang malinis at sustainable na enerhiya na tumutulong sa mas ligtas na pagbabantay sa hatchery, pagprotekta sa mga pugad, at pagpapatuloy ng aming misyon na pangalagaan ang mga pawikan ng Morong, Bataan.

Maraming salamat, Aboitiz Power, sa pagbibigay ng liwanag hindi lamang sa aming hatchery, kundi pati sa kinabukasan ng ating mga pawikan. 💚🐢

⚠️ PAALALA AT PANAWAGAN SA PUBLIKO

Ninakaw ang isa sa mga solar light sa harap ng Pawikan Hatchery sa Sagip. Ang ilaw na ito ay mahalaga para sa kaligtasan ng lugar at sa pangangalaga ng ating kapaligiran.

Kung may nakakita sa insidente o may magtangkang magbenta ng naturang solar light, hinihiling namin na agad itong ipagbigay-alam sa kinauukulan o sa aming tanggapan. Ang inyong impormasyon ay malaking tulong upang maibalik ang ninakaw at mapanagot ang may sala.

Rare Daytime Pawikan Sighting | July 9, 2026 | 9:30 AM | Sitio Crossing, Morong, Bataan

Isang pambihirang pangyayari ang nasaksihan noong Hulyo 9, 2026, bandang 9:30 ng umaga, nang may umahong Olive Ridley Sea Turtle sa baybayin ng Sitio Crossing.

Malaking pasasalamat kay Engr. Andrew Miguel De Jesus, isang concerned citizen, na agad nag-report sa Sagip Pawikan Sitio Fuerte Volunteers matapos niyang makita ang umahong pawikan. Agad namang rumesponde sina President Arnold P. Mendoza, Vice President Jeffrey San Juan, at volunteer Armando, at makalipas ang ilang minuto ay dumating din ang mga Bantay Pawikan Patrollers upang tumulong sa pagbabantay.

Ilang ulit na naghanap ng angkop na lugar ang inang pawikan upang mangitlog, ngunit sa kasamaang-palad ay hindi ito naging matagumpay. Isa ito sa mga bihirang pagkakataon na may umahong pawikan sa araw, dahil karaniwan ay gabi hanggang madaling-araw lamang nangingitlog ang mga Olive Ridley sa ating lugar.

Isa sa mga posibleng dahilan ng hindi nito pangingitlog ay ang kawalan ng angkop na bahagi ng buhanginan na maaari nitong paghukayan, gayundin ang mga breakwater na nagsilbing hadlang sa pag-akyat nito patungo sa mas ligtas at mas angkop na nesting site.

Nawa'y manatili tayong mapagmatyag at agad mag-report sa mga awtoridad o sa Sagip Pawikan Sitio Fuerte Volunteers kapag may makitang umahong pawikan upang mabigyan ito ng sapat na proteksyon.

Maraming salamat sa ating mga concerned citizens at dedikadong volunteers. Sama-sama nating pangalagaan ang ating mga pawikan at ang kanilang likas na tirahan.

Strengthening partnerships for marine turtle conservation and coastal protection.

The Mid-Year Consultation Meeting held on July 7, 2026 at the Sagip Pawikan Hatchery brought together our valued partners from Aboitiz Power, DENR, and LGU Morong to review accomplishments, share updates, and discuss future plans. This meeting highlights the importance of collaboration, transparency, and collective action in protecting our marine environment and ensuring the continued success of our conservation efforts.

Together, we celebrate our achievements and strengthen our commitment to safeguarding the future of our pawikan and coastal communities.
