In celebration of the 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹, our PCC staff and volunteers continued a beloved tradition — serving "Eggcaldo" and sandwiches to the participants of the 𝗙𝗹𝘂𝘃𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 Our Lady of the Pillar Parish Pilar 🌊🛶

This has been a cherished Bantay Pawikan and Pawikan Conservation Center tradition — giving thanks and showing support to our bangkeros who navigate the waters during the procession. 🛶💙

Just as the Kanlungan Festival honors Morong as a cradle of hope and refuge, this simple act of service reflects the same spirit — community, compassion, and care for one another. 🌏

The "Eggcaldo" — a warm, comforting soup — is more than just a meal. It's a gesture of gratitude, a symbol of solidarity, and a reminder that we are all part of one community. 🐢💚

To the bangkeros, the parish, and everyone who joined the procession — maraming salamat for letting us be part of this meaningful celebration. 🙌

🏝️🐢 𝙆𝙖𝙣𝙡𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝙁𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙖𝙡: 𝘼 𝘾𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙤𝙥𝙚, 𝘼 𝙃𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙋𝙖𝙬𝙞𝙠𝙖𝙣𝙨 🌊💚

In 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴, 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗮𝗻, the word "𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻" means cradle — and no place embodies that meaning more deeply. 🌙

From 1980 to 1994, the shores of Morong served as a temporary home to over 400,000 refugees from Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. The Philippine Refugee Processing Center offered them friendship, hope, and new beginnings — a cradle of compassion for those seeking a brighter future.

Today, the same shores cradle another kind of life: the pawikan. 🐢

The Pawikan Conservation Center in Barangay Nagbalayong sits on the original nesting sites of the endangered Olive Ridley, Green, and Hawksbill turtles. Every nesting season, mama pawikans return to these shores — guided by an ancient instinct — to entrust their eggs to the sand where they were born.

And just as Morong once cradled refugees, the community now cradles these gentle creatures. Former poachers have become protectors. Volunteers patrol the shores at night, protecting nests and ensuring hatchlings make it safely to the sea.

This is the spirit behind the "𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗮" — the men and women who protect both our heritage and our wildlife. From the shores that once welcomed the displaced to the beaches that now shelter the endangered, Morong has always been a place of care. 💚

As we celebrate the 𝙆𝙖𝙣𝙡𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝙁𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙖𝙡, we honor that legacy — and we invite everyone to be part of it. 🌏

Last October 9, 2026, two mama pawikans came ashore and entrusted us with their precious eggs — and our dedicated volunteers were there to receive them. 🙌🐢

We have officially recovered 𝗡𝗲𝘀𝘁 #𝟭𝟭 and 𝗡𝗲𝘀𝘁 #𝟭𝟮 for the 27th Nesting Season! 🎉

We know the journey is long and exhausting. You came from the vast ocean, navigated the darkness, and laid your eggs on the sand with quiet faith. We will do everything we can to keep them safe. 🌊🐢

🛡️ 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗘𝗴𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀
Our volunteers follow strict egg management protocols — carefully collecting the eggs within the critical time frame, transporting them in moist sand, and reburying them in our hatchery sand bed with the exact orientation they were laid. 🥚

This conservation intervention dramatically increases the chance of egg viability. In the wild, only about 1 in 1,000 hatchlings survive to adulthood. With proper hatchery management, we give them a much stronger start. 🌏💚
