๐ŸŒ From Challenges to Champions: Building Resilient, Child-Centered Communities through the CLIMATE CARE Project ๐ŸŒฟ

Even after facing earthquakes, typhoons, and countless challenges, the Filipino spirit continues to rise โ€” stronger, wiser, and more determined to protect both people and planet. ๐Ÿ’š

The CLIMATE CARE Project, funded by the European Union in the Philippines and implemented by ChildFund Philippines , together with XAES Foundation Inc. and Ha Uman Assn Inc. , stands as a beacon of hope and action. It brings together passionate individuals from Mindanao โ€” from the municipalities of South Upi, North Upi, Tupi, Leon B. Postigo, and Gutalac โ€” united by one goal: to build climate-resilient, child-centered communities.

Through the 7-Day Climate Care Masters Training of Trainers, participants were equipped with essential knowledge and practical skills on child protection, safeguarding, disaster preparedness, climate change adaptation, gender responsiveness, and mental health and psychosocial support. They also received Basic First Aid and Life Support Training in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross โ€“ Bukidnon Chapter, ensuring that they can act swiftly and confidently during emergencies.

The newly trained Climate Care Masters are now returning to their respective communities with a mission:
๐ŸŒฑ To strengthen local disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation plans;
๐Ÿ‘ง To champion child protection and inclusion in community safety efforts;
๐Ÿ’ฌ To educate and mobilize children, youth, and families to take proactive steps in protecting their environment; and
๐Ÿ’ช To lead by example, ensuring that no one โ€” especially the vulnerable โ€” is left behind when disaster strikes.

The ripple effect of their work will soon be felt in barangays Leon Postigo and Gutalac (Zamboanga del Norte), Tupi (South Cotabato), South Upi (Maguindanao del Sur), and North Upi (Maguindanao del Norte) where communities are preparing not just to survive calamities but to thrive in resilience and unity.

With continued collaboration among Barangays, LGUs, and national partners, the CLIMATE CARE Project envisions a future where every Filipino community stands ready โ€” informed, inclusive, and empowered to face the changing climate with confidence. ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ

Letโ€™s all take part. Letโ€™s stand together for our communities, our children, and our shared home โ€” the Earth. ๐ŸŒ

During severe weather season, our Emergency Action Fund is more important than ever for us to be prepared to support children in crisis.

Tropical Storm Opong was the 15th tropical cyclone to hit the Philippines in 2025, and it won't be the last. When emergencies arise, our focus is always on the children, who are the most vulnerable but often the last to receive support.
