Introducing the purple corn juice made from the kernels and cobs of purple corn, which owe their striking reddish-purple color and immense health benefits to anthocyanins, natural pigments known for their powerful antioxidant properties.

Developed by DA-SOCCSKSARGEN and produced by the Kidapawan City Integrated Vegetable Farmers Association, this invigorating concentrate is distinguished by a pleasantly mildly sweet and slightly rustic flavor, enhanced by the addition of calamansi extract.

This healthy beverage represents a successful value-addition strategy and supports local farmers by generating additional income opportunities from their produce. The product is available for PhP 50 per 350mL bottle in cafeterias, grocery stores, and terminal stalls.

BREAD FOR THE WORLD (BftW)-GERMANY VISITS BARANGAY PACAO

November 13, 2025 – Barangay Pacao, Alamada, North Cotabato

Representatives from Bread for the World (BftW)-Germany, namely Ms. Evelyn Ebert, Programme Officer for the South East Pacific, and Mr. Albert Eieden, Advisor for OIO PMEL CUIP, visited Barangay Pacao to engage with the partner farmers of the Southern Christian College (SCC) Peace and Tri-People Dialogue Project: Sustainable Ecological Agriculture and Food Security (SEAFS) Program, and to meet with members of the Pacao Organic Farmers and Producers Association (POFPA).

The purpose of the visit was to assess the outcomes and impacts of the SCC SEAFS Program, focusing on the use of outputs and their benefits to partner farmers and the POFPA organization.

During their community visit, the representatives from Bread for the World-Germany visited several model and partner farms, including:

• Mr. Romeo Alparo, Owner of Alparo Integrated Farm
• Mr. Rolando Camering, Owner of Merlan Farm
• Mr. Referendo B. Abrenilla, Owner of P&A Integrated Farm

At each site, the visitors conducted interviews and on-site observations, gathering insights on how the SEAFS Program has influenced farm productivity, sustainability practices, and farmers’ overall livelihoods.

As part of the visit, a brief presentation was delivered by the POFPA President, highlighting the association’s milestones and developments. The presentation covered:

1. Background of POFPA
2. Organizational Structure
3. Linkages, Partnerships, and Networks
4. Access to Programs and Projects

Following the presentation, a lively open forum took place among the POFPA members and the BftW representatives. Discussions centered on the program’s direct benefits to members, with special attention to the participation and empowerment of women within POFPA and their active roles in the SEAFS initiatives.

The visit concluded with mutual appreciation from both sides—acknowledging the continuous partnership between Southern Christian College, Bread for the World-Germany, and the Pacao Organic Farmers and Producers Association—all committed to advancing sustainable ecological agriculture and food security.
