Fisheries biology expert Dr. W***y Campos provides numbers to the losses in fish catch and income of municipal fishers when commercial fishing vessels catch fish illegally inside the 15-kilometer municipal waters. These translate to the families and communities of municipal fishers denied food and a good future for their children.

The study (which covers the Visayan Sea) has been presented to the public, including BFAR, several times in the past, but decisive action and results remain elusive for almost two million municipal fishers nationwide. The State of the Nation Address of President Bongbong Marcos was silent in the clamor of municipal fishers for government protection of their rights and their future.

We are inviting you to join our upcoming Data Processing and Presentation Training on August 18-19, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM daily via Zoom.

We are privileged to have Mr. Benedict Mark Carmelita as our resource person for this training.

This training is open to socio-economics researchers, students, and practitioners. As slots are limited, interested participants are encouraged to register early. Accepted participants will be notified and required to pay a registration fee of ₱700.00 for regular participants and ₱500 for undergraduate students. Institutions who are members of TBTI Philippines are entitled to a ₱150.00 discount.
