DOMINGO DE RESURRECCIรN (Easter Sunday)
Gospel Readings: Mark 16:1-8
Today, April 20, 2025, is Easter Sunday, also known as Resurrection Sunday. This Christian festival and central holiday commemorates Jesus' resurrection from the dead, which is described in the New Testament as occurring on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary. It marks the culmination of Jesus Christ's Passion, which was preceded by the Great Lent, a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday is the cornerstone of the Christian faith, representing the fulfillment of God's plan for salvation and offering believers the promise of eternal life. Easter is regarded as the most important and joyful holiday in the Christian liturgical calendar. It is time for Christians to reflect on the significance of Jesus' sacrifice and the promise of eternal life.
Prayer: Almighty and ever-living God, who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ has overcome death and opened unto us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of the Lordโs Resurrection may be raised from the death of sin by thy life-giving Spirit; through the same Jesus Christ, Our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
