Board Room, Clergy House Compound — The Board of Trustees of Maryknoll Schools and St. Therese of the Child Jesus Diocesan Seminary convened in two separate sessions held on August 4 and August 11, 2025, to address key institutional matters, including the review of the proposed budget for School Year 2025–2026.

The meetings were led by 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘃. 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝗖. 𝗔𝗽𝗶𝗴𝗼, 𝗗𝗗, Chairman of the Board, with 𝗥𝗲𝘃. 𝗙𝗿. 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗣. 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼 as Chancellor, 𝗙𝗿. 𝗥𝗲𝘆 𝗠. 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗮, 𝗗𝗖𝗠 as Oeconomus and 𝗥𝗲𝘃 𝗙𝗿. 𝗥𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗻 𝗗. 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗼, 𝗝𝗿., 𝗗𝗖𝗠 as Diocesan Superintendent.

The August 4 meeting focused on the Maryknoll Schools of Lambajon, Manay, and Cateel, tackling academic updates, operational priorities, and financial planning for the upcoming school year. Meanwhile, the August 11 session centered on St. Therese of the Child Jesus Diocesan Seminary and Maryknoll of Lupon, where trustees discussed program developments, formation needs, and resource allocation.

In both gatherings, the Board thoroughly reviewed the budget proposal for S.Y. 2025–2026 to ensure that financial plans support the institutions’ mission and strategic objectives. The discussions reflected the Board’s steadfast commitment to sustaining quality Catholic education and priestly formation in the Diocese of Mati.

𝐎𝐧 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, school directors and directresses of the Diocese of Mati Catholic Schools System gathered at Maryknoll School of Lambajon, Inc., Baganga, Davao Oriental, to prepare for the upcoming 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓. Maryknoll School of Sigaboy, Inc.
Board of Trustees Meeting

On July 14, 2025, the Board of Trustees of Maryknoll School of Sigaboy, Inc. convened for a meeting that included the review of the Budget Proposal for Academic Year 2025–2026. The meeting addressed key issues concerning the strategic direction and continued development of the institution.

A highlight of the gathering was the Board’s formal expression of appreciation for Sr. Ma. Charina Joring, LGC, who rendered dedicated service as the school’s Finance Officer over the past nine months. As she concludes her assignment, the Board acknowledged her significant contributions and steadfast support, especially in managing the school’s financial operations during a time of transition.

The Board also extended a warm welcome to the newly appointed School Director, Rev. Fr. Elezer Pagkilatan, DCM. His leadership is expected to bring renewed vision, pastoral guidance, and strengthened commitment to the mission of Maryknoll education in Sigaboy.

The meeting agenda included academic updates, operational concerns, and strategic planning for the upcoming school year.

Signing of Contract for the Coffee Table Book of the 40th Ruby Jubilee Celebration of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Mati

On June 26, 2025, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Mati officially signed a contract with BLUE IGUANA COMPUTER CONSULTANCY SERVICES for the production of the Coffee Table Book commemorating its 40th Ruby Jubilee Celebration.

The contract was formally signed by the Most Reverend Bishop Abel C. Apigo, DD, of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Mati, and Mr. Virgilio Martin J. Castrillo, Managing Director of BLUE IGUANA. The ceremony was witnessed by diocesan representatives: Fr. Jay B. Ramos, DCM, Fr. Richard P. Labo, DCM, and Fr. Ruben Bentayao, Jr. DCM.

With the theme “Four Decades of Synodal Journey in Faith, in Gratitude, and in Mission,” the upcoming coffee table book will stand as a meaningful tribute—honoring the Diocese’s rich history, milestones, and unwavering commitment to its mission.

Today marks the 1st School Heads Meeting for School Year 2025–2026 of the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Mati.

Presided over by Rev. Fr. Ruben Bentayao, Jr. DCM, the newly appointed Diocesan School Superintendent, the meeting was held in the spirit of a Synodal Church—embracing communion, participation, and mission.

Our school heads came together to align their vision, strengthen collaboration, and renew their commitment to forming students rooted in Gospel values, academic excellence, and Christian service.

"Journeying Together in Hope: A Fruitful INSET 2025 for Catholic Educators”

From June 9 to 12, 2025, Catholic school teachers participated in the In-Service Training (INSET) anchored on the theme “Catholic School Teachers: Journeying Together in Hope.”

This formative undertaking equipped educators with enhanced communication and collaboration skills, deepened their understanding of action research, and nurtured their growth as servant-leaders in the field of Catholic education. Through these sessions, participants were renewed in their vocation—to teach with purpose, lead with faith, and serve with love.

The Diocese of Mati Catholic School System extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Gulf Town schools for their active participation and steadfast support; to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy, the host school, for their warm hospitality; and most especially to the volunteer speakers and facilitators from the MC Maryknoll-Miriam, Identity, Spirituality, and Mission Officewhose generous sharing of expertise and missionary spirit greatly contributed to the success and depth of this training.
