We recently had the opportunity to have an interview with the Queen Of Public Service, Ms. Toni Rose Gayda and veteran broadcaster, Angelo Taiรฑo for their DWIZ 882 program Tulay Pilipino.

Our founder and lead advocate, Arthur Winston, shared the vision of our organization for sustainable food security for all Filipinos. He also highlighted our current efforts to expand both our community and food donor bases. Most importantly, he also called on everyone to join us in this movement.

Thank you, Tulay Pilipino, for the platform to further amplify our voice.

Happy Friday (the 13th), Food Access family and friends!

In what others consider as a peculiar day, we instead choose to celebrate women allies who have helped shape our organizationโ€™s journey in the past months. It is, after all, Womenโ€™s Month! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ’œ

One of our primary cheerleaders is Ms. Patricia Nucum Rabal. Our founder previously worked with her building partnerships to help build a food recovery community in the country. In her current personal capacity, she has continued to champion our expanded food banking, recovery, and security advocacy by actively introducing us to like-minded individuals to push our cause forward.

We first met Coach Yani Moya-Cuenca when she supported community feeding programs a lifetime ago. We got reintroduced by Patricia when we were starting to ramp up our operations for Food Access last year. She, together with the Co-Create Media, Co-Create Studios and Happy Money Club PH teams, sponsored our year-end Soul Kitchen activity that served 2,000 meals across communities in Pasig and Marikina. Their generosity enabled our organization to jumpstart our new Marikina office.

Fast forward to this month and Coach Yani made a kind introduction to Ms. Jam Tan Velez and her Atelier Amรฉlie team and community. Jointly, their teams and communities helped us serve 3,000 meals for various vulnerable groups in Marikina, including the elderly, indigent families, PWD, and students. That activity in turn, helped build our main kitchen.

We are now looking forward to expanding our collective impact through 10,000 meals prepared and served to various institutions supporting women very soon. Imagine how that will further help our food programs!

This is what happens when we choose to empower, support, and uplift each other. This is the power of WOMEN. Indeed, it is true that women hold half the sky.

Thank you, Pat, Yani, and Jam! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ’œ We are forever grateful.

Our partners from , through Coach , introduced us to .ph and their founder Ms. Jam Tan-Velez recently. That led to their collective sponsorship of 3,000 meals for three different barangays in Marikina community. ๐Ÿฒ

To serve 3,000 meals, the Atelier Amelia, Happy Money Club PH, and Co-Create teams joined our local volunteers from Project Marikeรฑos (Jaspher Justo), the Marikina PWD association (Gloria Antuerfia), and Rivaras Community Pantry (Angelica Rodriguez Acaso). They were led by our volunteer chefs from VCAP, Chefs Lally Riviera, Magnolia Quiamzon, and Angela Hann.

The meals were served to indigent and PWD residents of Barangays Fortune, Malanday, and Taรฑong.

We are thankful to Century Pacific Food, Inc., RSPo Foundation, San Miguel Corporation, and San Miguel Foundation for their generous donations of food that we use to cook for our communities. Thank you to Pat and Jon for introducing us to like-minded partners. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›

Cheers to more engagements between our teams! Because with Food Access Philippines, you donโ€™t just join an activity. We enjoin to serve soulful meals with dignity!

The morning of 25 February found Manila preparing for two inaugurations. The people flocked to Club Filipino in San Juan to witness the start of a new era. All across the metro and in cities and towns across the country, from Baguio to Davao, the people joined in the last wave of People Power.

As the day went on, more and more of the military broke away to side with the people. Triumphal crowds gathered around Nagtahan and Mendiola, cutting up the barbed wire that once separated them to bring home as souvenirs. The people could feel that the a new page had turned in the story of our people; and that they were the driving force for that change. Whatever lay ahead in the future, they would be the ones who would write it. The whole world now knew that in the Philippines, Power was in the hands of the People.

"Bayan Ko" was a popular nationalistic song from the early 20th century. It signified one's longing for the country to be free from oppression and subjugation. As a symbol of our struggle for freedom, the song had become an unofficial 2nd national anthem and remains a staple for celebrations and protests. During the EDSA People Power Revolution, the song was often heard to rally the people during moments of intense pressure or crisis, with Radio Veritas intermittently playing it as part of their broadcast.

Welcoming new partners and bridging relationships with old ones!

We recently began our food banking and recovery partnership with San Miguel Corporation, through the San Miguel Foundation headed by Ms. Kin Lichauco. Our Operations Lead, Jaysie Narciso, visited the Better World Tondo facility.

While San Miguel gave food for our communities, we also shared back some food blessings from our old partner Century Pacific Food, Inc., through the generosity of the RSPo Foundation. Now, our collective communities have access to more diverse, and hopefully more nutritious, food sources.

Additionally, through the efforts of our local Marikina partners at the The Fraternal Order of Eagles (Philippine Eagles) NCR 121 Masigasig Region led by Kuya Gov. Jose Tayamora, Triple D DMRT Alalayang Agila with assistance from Kuya Gov. Joseph Cuisia Jocson, and NCR 62 led by Kuya Gov. Kristan Briton Layag, we have been able to accommodate bulk frozen food donations and consolidate food stocks in a permanent cold storage facility near our Marikina central office.

Cheers to a lasting and meaningful engagement, San Miguel, Century Pacific, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles - Philippine Eagles!
