Last September 15, 2026 the Philippine Red Cross Marikina Chapter, through the Resilience and Adaptation to Climate Hazards (REACH) Project, successfully conducted the Climate Resilience Measurement for Communities (CRMC) Intervention Planning – Stakeholder Presentation.

The activity brought together key offices, departments, and stakeholders of the Marikina City Government and partner institutions to validate and discuss the identified climate-related risks, community needs, and proposed interventions arising from the CRMC process.

At the heart of the REACH Project is a participatory and community-centered approach, recognizing that those who experience climate hazards firsthand are essential partners in identifying risks, understanding vulnerabilities, and developing practical solutions.

Through the CRMC process, community voices, local knowledge, and stakeholder perspectives are brought together to help shape interventions that are responsive to actual needs and grounded in local realities. This participatory approach strengthens ownership, encourages shared responsibility, and supports sustainable systems change beyond the project.

The DRRMO Council under Councilor Sam Ferriol, MCDRRMO, City Health Office (CHO), City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), City Environmental Management Office (CEMO), Marikina Sports Office (MSO), DepEd Marikina, PNP Marikina, together with the other invited offices and stakeholders, expressed their commitment to support the REACH Project’s plans, programs, and activities.

Their participation demonstrates the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration, meaningful community participation, and systems change in strengthening climate resilience. By bringing together government offices, communities, humanitarian organizations, and other partners, we can help ensure that climate resilience actions are inclusive, coordinated, locally informed, and responsive to the needs of the people.

🔴 A VEST OF SERVICE. A SYMBOL OF COMMITMENT. A PARTNERSHIP FOR RESILIENCE.

September 15, 2026 — The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Marikina Chapter formally presented and turned over the symbolic Red Cross Vest to Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Alejandro G. Ibañez of the Department of Education – Schools Division Office of Marikina, during a meaningful ceremony held at the SDO Marikina Division Office.

More than a symbol, the Red Cross Vest represents service, humanity, readiness, and responsibility—and SDO Marikina’s commitment to stand with PRC in protecting lives, strengthening communities, and fostering a culture of preparedness and volunteerism among learners and educators.

The turnover was led by PRC Marikina Board of Directors Chairman Hon. Serafin “Bojie” Bernardino, together with Director Jaycee Crisostomo and Chapter Administrator Ms. Jennifer E. De Guzman. The occasion also formally welcomed Dr. Ibañez as a member of the PRC Marikina Board of Directors, further strengthening the partnership between PRC and SDO Marikina.

Witnessed by Senior Education Program Specialist for Social Mobilization and Networking Ms. Maria Chona Sarmiento, the ceremony highlighted the continuing collaboration between PRC and SDO Marikina in advancing Red Cross Youth programs, first aid, disaster preparedness, humanitarian education, and youth volunteerism, with the support of Division Red Cross Coordinator Mr. Garvie L. Medina.

As schools play a vital role in community preparedness and often serve as evacuation centers during emergencies, this partnership strengthens coordination and helps ensure that life-saving knowledge and humanitarian action reach those who need them most.

Today’s ceremony marks more than the acceptance of a vest.

It marks the acceptance of a responsibility—to serve, to protect, to prepare, and to leave no one behind.

❤️ HEALTH CARAVAN & TRIBUTE: HONORING OUR SENIOR TEACHERS

Today, September 5, 2026, the Philippine Red Cross Marikina Chapter stood alongside DepEd Schools Division Office Marikina City at the Cultural Hall, Sto. Niño National High School for our special health caravan — part of the annual celebration honoring our dedicated Senior Citizen Teachers. Even amid the Southwest Monsoon rains, our hearts and efforts remained strong as we served beloved educators.
