Happy Labor Day to every Filipino whose hands keep this country alive.

To the fishermen who brave rough seas before dawn, the farmers who endure heat and rain to feed the nation, the jeepney drivers who carry people through crowded streets, the construction workers who build our cities, the vendors who work from sunrise to nightfall, the delivery riders who keep daily life moving, the nurses and healthcare workers who care for the sick, the teachers who shape young minds, the factory workers, janitors, security guards, office staff, and countless others whose names are often forgotten, this day is for you.

Let us stop romanticizing resilience as if hardship is something to praise. Filipinos were never meant to survive on endless sacrifice alone. Strength should not be measured by how much suffering a person can endure in silence.

The true worth of every Filipino worker is not found in how much they can sacrifice, but in how deeply they contribute to the life of this nation.

They are not just workers. They are the backbone of the country.

Behind every meal served, every road traveled, every building standing, every classroom learning, every hospital functioning, and every community surviving is the labor of Filipinos who deserve more than applause. They deserve dignity, fair wages, rest, protection, and a life where they do not have to suffer just to survive.

Today, we honor the people who carry the nation on their backs.

Look | " The New Bishop "

Our Bishop-elect, for the first time, is seen wearing the choir dressโ€”marking a quiet yet profound moment in his journey of faith. This simple photograph captures not only a new vestment, but a deeper commitment to serve God and His people with humility, love, and fidelity. Let us continue to keep him in our prayers as he prepares for his episcopal ministry.๐Ÿ™

He will be ordained as Bishop on May 26, 2026 | 9:00AM at St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral ( Tagbilaran Cathedral )

Rev.Msgr. (Fr.)Gerardo "Jingboy" F. S**o Jr.
Bishop-elect of the Diocese of Tagbilaran

On this day, April 9, 2026, today we join the nation in commemorating the 84th Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor), honoring the bravery and sacrifice of the thousands of fallen soldiers who fought for the country in Bataan during the second World War.

This yearโ€™s theme, "Giting ng Bayani, Pamana sa Salinlahi" (Valor of Heroes, Legacy for Future Generations), captures the significance of this occasion, reminding us that it is through the heroic deeds of those who came before us that we are able to live freely today, and that their valor remains a gift we can use to shape future generations.

Formerly called โ€œBataan Day,โ€ this date memorializes the time when valiant soldiers stood their ground as the last line of defense at Bataan before being overwhelmed by foreign invaders.

Now, officially declared a regular holiday through Proclamation No. 1006, s. 2025, let us spend this day paying tribute to our heroes, continuing the legacy of patriotism, strength of spirit, and moral courage that they have passed on to this generation.
