"And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word."
[Surah Al-Isra':23]
In this verse, Allah has commanded two things: 1. To worship Him alone; 2.) To be kind to your parents.
The verse encouraged the use of kind and respectful words towards your parents, and honor them even if they've reached old age.
Honoring our parents is one of our duties as a Muslim. Our chances of entering through the best door of paradise lies on how we treat them. Honoring our parents and being dutiful to them is just one of the ways to please Allah (SWT).
Our parents, from the moment that we are conceived, have sacrificed a lot for us. Being a parent is hard, but they still nurtured, protected, and took care of us. Our parents is just one of the greatest blessings Allah (SWT) has given us, therefore, we must treasure and love them.
At this generation, where disrespecting one's parents seems to be rampant, let us continue on paying our greatest respects to our parents.
