Meet Dr. Almayrah Abbas Tiburon—one of the most powerful literary voices bringing Meranaw stories to life in Philippine and global literature.

A National Book Awards finalist, Kampeon ng Wika awardee, and one of Spot.ph's "10 Noteworthy Filipina Writers," Dr. Tiburon writes from the heart of Marawi City, turning the lived experiences of her people into unforgettable poetry, fiction, and essays.

Her books—Terminal, Terminal 2, Thotholan: Mga Alamat at Pabulang Meranaw, Salamin at Iba Pang Panglaw, and Mga Danas—explore Meranaw identity, women's resilience, war, displacement, and motherhood with a depth that refuses to let dominant narratives erase Bangsamoro realities.

She's not just a writer. As Director of MSU-Sentro ng Wika at Kultura and faculty at MSU-Marawi's Department of Filipino and Other Languages, she's actively shaping the next generation of Bangsamoro storytellers and cultural workers.

Her work has appeared in major Philippine anthologies (CCP, UP Press, Gantala Press, Liwayway) and international journals (Asymptote, YUMO-Japan). She's also edited critical collections like Lawanen 2: Mga Alaala ng Pagkubkob, preserving memories of the Marawi siege with dignity and cultural responsibility.

Dr. Tiburon bridges oral tradition and written literature, ensuring that Meranaw voices aren't just heard—they're documented, celebrated, and passed on to future generations.
