Historical Background:
After the armed conflict in selected areas in Lanao del
Sur and Norte due to the impasse signing of MOA-AD
between GRP and M**F in 2008, group of youth leaders across
Mindanao having different cultural and religious background
meet together in an Interfaith Conference. These youth leaders
are envisioning and committed to significantly contribute in
the establishment and que
sts for sustainable and long-lasting
peace and development in Mindanao. In order to achieve their goals and effectively convey
their advocacies for Mindanao, they decided to form an
organization that will serve as an avenue for them to
strengthen their ties, camaraderie, to efficiently deliver their
advocacies for Mindanao, build strong linkages and
partnership and be able to become an agent for social
transformation in achieving a just, peaceful, sustainably
developed, and God-fearing Mindanao Communities. The
initiatives of these youth leaders give way to the establishment
and the birth of BOLAYOKA on December 8, 2008 with
pioneering members of 21 youth leaders across Mindanao. The
word BOLAYOKA is a noun from a Meranao word “bolayok”
which means friend, playmate, chum, partner or pal. Later, this youth group was formally registered to the
Securities and Exchange Commission in Cagayan de Oro City
and successfully awarded with SEC Certificate of
Incorporation to operate as a non-profit, non-stock, and
non-government organization on December 6, 2010 with
Company Registration Number: CN201031718 thus later
named as BOLAYOKA, INC. Currently operating its
office at Block 2 MSU-Housing Division, MSU-Main Campus, Marawi City, Lanao del del Sur as a formal and
active non-government organization based in Marawi City.
