Ulama Supreme Council of the Philippines Joins Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Special Meeting During Kuala Lumpur Summits
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, June 13, 2026 — The Ulama Supreme Council of the Philippines for Peace and Development expressed its sincere appreciation to the organizers of the 3rd Global Religious Leaders Summit and the 4th ASEAN Scholar Councils Summit for the successful conduct of the two prestigious international gatherings held at the Malaysian International Convention Centre (MICC), Kuala Lumpur.
The 3rd Global Religious Leaders Summit, held on June 12 under the theme “Empowering Youth,” brought together religious leaders, policymakers, academics, and community representatives from around the world to discuss the role of faith communities in addressing contemporary social challenges. This was followed by the 4th ASEAN Scholar Councils Summit on June 13, which focused on strengthening scholarly cooperation and promoting moderation, peace, and development across the region.
The Ulama Supreme Council of the Philippines actively participated in both events, with its representatives serving as speakers and panel session chairpersons. The Council shared insights on interfaith cooperation, youth empowerment, peacebuilding, and the importance of education in fostering resilient and harmonious communities.
A major highlight of the conferences was the special invitation extended by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to VIP delegates, keynote speakers, and distinguished guests for a cordial meeting on the sidelines of the summits. During the gathering, the Prime Minister engaged in a friendly and open exchange of views with religious leaders and scholars from various countries and faith traditions.
The Ulama Supreme Council described the meeting as a valuable opportunity to strengthen regional and international cooperation, promote mutual understanding, and reaffirm shared commitments to peace and social cohesion. The Council commended the Malaysian government and conference organizers for their warm hospitality and leadership in bringing together diverse voices to advance dialogue, unity, and the empowerment of future generations.
